Dispersal orders for Oxford United v Millwall match
1 hr

A dispersal order has been issued ahead of Oxford United's match against Millwall.

Police said "a highly visible and robust policing operation" will be in place for the game at the Kassam Stadium tomorrow (November 30).

Section 35 dispersal orders will be enacted as a preventative measure to ensure the safety of fans and local communities in the area.

The orders give officers and Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) the power to disperse individuals and groups of people causing harassment, alarm or distress from the locality.

The order will be in place from 9am until 9pm tomorrow in Oxford.

In addition to this, police said they will use tactics including football spotters - undercover officers who provide live information and act as a link between the police and supporters.

Mounted officers, police dogs and drones will also be deployed to provide reassurance for our local communities, said the force.

Superintendent Adrian Hall, Strategic Commander for the Oxford United FC home game, said: “These dispersal orders are in place solely as a preventative measure for any anti-social behaviour or disorder which takes place surrounding the game.

“By activating these plans, officers have more options at their disposal to move people out of the area to reduce the likelihood of crime and disorder.

“The majority of people attending this game will be there to enjoy the football and our officers will be there throughout the day and on hand to answer any questions or concerns you may have. Please feel free to stop them for a chat.

“We continue to work with both football clubs, our partners and local communities to ensure a safe operation and prevent those who pose a risk of anti-social behaviour from impacting on others.”

No doubt fosb will be all over this
Sup. Adrian Hall seems a bit of a confrontational prick policeman to me- there's no real justifying the ridiculous amount of robocops, mounted division & dog handlers ( helicopters/drones too) being deployed tomorrow . An early kick off is not enough it seems, has anyone informed Sup Adrian Hall the 80s were around 4 decades ago? Most of the tvp invasion of BBleys and Greater Leys areas close to the breeze block is a gross waste of council taxpayers money too IMO- whats the odds TVP cause unnecessary gridlock post match on the narrow alleyway from the breeze block to Knights road?

Can @OUSP find out how much TVP are charging the club towards paying for the vanity project that is Supt. Hall's muscle flexing style of policing please?

And to add to that, perhaps they might get the policing right this time instead of allowing a large number of Millwall fans to march around past the East stand and onto the south side.
Agree with @Sarge on the confrontational attitude. If greeted with barking dogs, riot gear and horses pushing folk around then they will find a number of folk getting a little hot under the collar. Counter productive and very poor policing.

our officers will be there throughout the day and on hand to answer any questions or concerns you may have. Please feel free to stop them for a chat.
Perhaps Sup. Adrian Hall might like to be on hand to answer questions or concerns? Might be quite a few folk who would love to stop him for a chat.

So the main thrust by FoSB et al will be Football violence is rife and we don’t want that anywhere near us thank you.

Can I ask the residents of Grenoble Road on here how any of these incidents have affected them?
In fact I would say that in the 20 plus years we have been at the Breeze Block not once have the residents around the stadium witnessed any violence and that includes matches v STFC

So yet again another non story from the Mail

I couldn’t understand the big police presence last Saturday. Walking through Blackbird Leys before and after there were tons of them. Seemed a waste of money to me as well considering who we were playing.

It's always better to have headlines about the club, police and safety groups working together to prevent disorder than it is to have images of violence spread across the media.

Last season against Reading felt like a massive over reaction, but the police around the ground were good humoured and I'm not sure that anyone would have felt intimidated by their presence. Hopefully we have the same today and the headlines are all about us winning on the pitch rather than anything that a handful of idiots do off the pitch.

I did look once when vicky and the rest of the anti brigade were piping up about it there was one incident back in 2007 vs Exeter or Torquay where a away coach got stoned one vs Bristol rovers bit of pavement dancing and one vs Millwall. There may of been one or 2 more incidents but nothing major and certainly not every week like they like to make out. One anti used to keep telling us kidlington has never seen a huge police presence and it would put people off from coming to kidlington completely forgetting all the riots at campsfield house that took place
