That's brilliant Billy. I'll use that

On comment about "kids going to training"; if she means Oxford's Academy players then mention they'll go to the training ground; if she means kids using Stratfield Brake then say the new crossings and enhanced road/travel infrastructure will actually make it safer for them.

Hardcore dangerous road?! What is it, the Monaco GP?!

images (1) (28).jpeg

Well...that's JIS stadium, one of biggest stadium in Jakarta, OUFC could be play there on upcoming Opening Ceremony for 2025 Indonesian President Cup ( if our main stadium not available or already booked for other purpose )

It located side by side with Toll road...but we don't call that as hardcore dangerous road...the road is one of facility for reach the stadium, part of several transportation option to reach the stadium....not Hardcore dangerous road 😁

And that is being very unkind to a plank of wood 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
A plank of wood is a million times more useful than that cocky prat.
I here by declare that i live outside of the shire and currently drive to the Krapstad but once the new stadium is built i will be coming by train via Oxford station,so thats my gas guzzling car off the roads on a saturday.

Here is a full and detailed summary of Oxfordshire County Council’s (OCC) formal response to planning application 24/00539/F (Oxford United stadium proposal), dated 30 May 2025:

---

🔷 OVERALL POSITION

No Objection from OCC — subject to a large suite of planning conditions and over £5 million in S106 financial contributions. OCC recognises the strategic transport benefits of the location and supports the proposal from a transport and drainage perspective.

---

🚦 TRANSPORT: Local Highway Authority Assessment

✅ Strategic Overview

The site is highly sustainable, with strong access to public transport and planned upgrades through wider growth projects.

OCC praises the vision-led transport strategy that promotes modal shift away from car use — aligning with local and national policies.

---

🛣️ Highway & Traffic Impact

Micro-simulation traffic modelling (including weekday AM/PM peaks and Saturday matchdays) shows:

Some delays, particularly during weekday evenings, but no "severe" impact per NPPF paragraph 116.

The worst case scenarios showed short-term journey delays (e.g. 889 seconds on Route 3 during one evening hour).

Impacts are only for short periods and 28 times a year on average.

OCC supports mitigation including VMS, average speed cameras, and matchday diversions.

---

🚧 Highway Works via Section 278

OCC requires:

3 new signalised pedestrian/cycle crossings (Frieze Way, Oxford Road, A44).

Bus laybys, reduced speed limits (Frieze Way to 40mph), and new shared-use footways.

Steps from Oxford Road to Oxford Parkway Station with lighting and signage.

Hostile Vehicle Mitigation infrastructure to protect pedestrians during road closures.

---

💸 S106 Contributions (Transport-related) — Total: £5,062,161

Some key items:

£1.83M for new mobility hub at Oxford Airport

£932K for Cowley Branch Line

£722K for bus service upgrades

£587K for active travel at Oxford Parkway junction

Matchday CPZs, enforcement, speed and signage management, VMS, ticket machines, bus stops, cycle parking, and travel plan monitoring

---

🅿️ Parking Strategy

161 car spaces on site (41 EV, 80 accessible matchday).

Controlled Parking Zones (CPZs) to be created up to 3km from the stadium.

OCC accepts limited matchday use of Oxford Parkway parking with mitigation:

Higher pricing

Post-match holds

Communication/VMS to discourage it

---

🚌 Public & Rail Transport

The site is served by 26 buses/hour plus matchday shuttles to all Park & Rides.

Rail connections strong now and will improve significantly with:

East West Rail (by 2033)

Cowley Line (by 2030)

Potential new stops (Begbroke Science Park, Grove)

OCC is supportive of public transport-inclusive match tickets and real-time travel info systems.

---

🚲 Cycling

446 cycle bays at the stadium, 75 at Oxford Parkway.

Acceptable to OCC and compliant with LTN 1/20 standards.

---

🧍‍♂️ Crowd Management & Road Closures

Oxford Road diversion 35 minutes pre- and post-match is required for crowd safety and supported by:

Bus access “airlock” system

Marshals and signage

HVM (hostile vehicle mitigation) installations are required.

Evacuation strategy, signage strategy, car park strategy all required as conditions.

---

🏗️ Conditions Required

Construction Traffic Management Plan (CTMP)

Full Travel Plans for all uses (stadium, hotel, gym, etc.)

Public transport information system

Evacuation and crowd/traffic management strategies

Car and cycle parking details

Communication strategy for local residents

---

🌧️ FLOODING & DRAINAGE

No objection from the Lead Local Flood Authority, subject to drainage strategy and design conditions.

Applicants must consider comments from Thames Water and Cherwell District Council drainage officer.

---

📝 SUMMARY STATEMENT

OCC strongly supports the application’s transport approach, stating:

> “The sustainable location, combined with the proposed transport strategy... offers fans and Oxfordshire residents the opportunity to travel sustainably to a site situated in an area of growth with an already high-quality integrated transport network.”

It concludes:

Traffic delays are short-term and limited in frequency.

The proposal is aligned with local growth and sustainability ambitions.

No objection is made on transport or flooding grounds.

Just read the section on contributions. Please can someone say why would we pay £1.83m for a hub at Oxford airport? It’s not as if it’s going to get additional traffic to warrant any major investment such as this.

Hi folks

The below is from my local councillor. She is in the sceptical camp of the new stadium but is persuadable and is genuinely engaging on the issue. She asked me the question below (just informally). The documents from the club will hopefully reassure her and I don't want to give her any misinformation. My instinct for an answer is that (i) footfall will be much lower on non-match days (ii) people can park or train into the park and ride and (iii) can cross safely via the traffic lights / pedestrian crossing as numbers will be lower. Is that right or do I just leave this for the club to manage? As I say she is genuinely asking.

Do you have any idea how they would do travel from the train station not on match days? I buy the idea of closing the road for match days, BUT how would they get kids there for training / people there to work in the cafes / other people who need the site? That's the thing I really can't get my head around! All walking routes are on a hardcore dangerous road so I just don't understand what they're proposing if it doesn't involve a new bridge.

Simple, pelican crossing... It's even in the plans.
Believe it or not we've been doing it for a while now it's not rocket science.

You’ve got to hand it to him; he has no shame and no doubt. Consistently wrong with absolute confidence. No ability to engage with facts, even factual reports from his own council.

What a miserable way to live, being endlessly contrarian and outraged. Please go do something else, find some joy in life, this is not a healthy thing to be doing with your time. Let others live a bit.

Ian now using air travel as an excuse not to build the stadium. Not very "Green" is it?

The bloke is a complete and utter joke.
If you actually read his alternative site objections on the occ document it's basically dont build near me
He questions why not site x y and z because they are green belt sites just like the triangle so build it there.
There is nothing green about him
I also picture him preaching about being vegan while eating a pork pie he is such a hypocrite

Not sure I like those replies from Middleton in the sense that he’s not concerned
It’s as if he knows something that we don’t
There are usually two responses Middleton could have used one come out fighting or two concede but he has thrown a third into the ring which is a shrug of the shoulders, you think what you want the outcome will not go your way.
Probably reading too much into it but I don’t like the way he more or less says f**k OCC this is CDC who never listen to them anyway

he claims to be vegan, yet drinks non vegan beer - Squiddly Diddly

the good beer guide states catagorically that Squiddly Diddley is not vegan

This is a classic case of misrepresentation of facts by ian middleton
i give you paul batt taking another middleton objection apart

What's even more extraordinary is that a delay of 3 minutes 51 seconds (noting that Paul B has shown this to be 56 seconds), 23 times a year is cited as a reason to not build a stadium - the level of entitlement is astronomical. So worst case scenario, if someone used that route for every home game in a year, they might lose c.20 minutes over 365 days so that 368,000 spectators could enjoy watching football matches.

He’s probably trying to seem like he doesn’t care as his ego is so badly bruised he’s trying to perform one last great stand to prove he’s the more intellectual & intelligent man.

We know different however.

Soon we won’t hear a peep out of him like his constituents don’t

Just remember he has been sat on this very council for 4 years so he is basically he is clueless

Land Behind The Moors campaign ( same cronies as FoSB appear to be involved), as well as the proposed £5 per day congestion charge for Oxford will have at least some of his attention Id think

They all actively hate him, he’s an absolute nobody & he’s fuming that his party have lost overall control & don’t have a seat at the table, probably hates the Lib Dems because they no longer need to be associated with the green party’s absolute bull****

You’d think so.

Although knowing him probably not, he just hates football fans, funny how he’s never put this energy he does to opposing us into helping the local people of kidlington.

He’s a narcissist. Plain and simple.
