It's great to see the (former) moderator on Nextdoor showing her true colours. She was one of those who was responsible for many of my posts being removed and eventually being kicked off the site.

It's a shame that its such a predictable response that everyone could see coming. I would have expected that the best minds in North Oxford might be able to manage something a little more original!

They are all utterly brainwashed by the nonsense spouted by sarsons & co. The latest tactic to get all their followers to focus their objections on the lack of evidence for very special circumstances has backfired on them spectacularly. The planning officer can now disregard 90% of the last round of objections.

If you rent a house and are told that you are being evicted in January so you need a new house, if you manage to get an extension till June you are still being evicted and need a new house, you have just managed to get yourself a bit more time to sort yourself out.
But what about all the secret fantasy deals you didnt tell anyone!

A temporary extension of a maximum of 2 years while Kassam gets his own plans for the site including the Ozone approved is not long term security for the club.

That's the whole point of building the stadium and why Oxfordshire county council suggested the triangle land as a perfect location to future proof the club.

If a house landlord offers you a short extension before eviction so you can find another home does that mean you can remain forever? Of course it doesn't but the anti stadium folk are nothing but a bunch of clowns.

He's an astute and successful businessman. I suspect his decision was 99% head and 1% heart. Not that I blame him, he's clearly got big plans for the site but is willing to earn decent rent for an extra couple of years. It will probably take that long to draw up plans and gain planning permission for whatever's going in the stadium's place, so the extension likely suits him in that way too.
Yep it's the prefect situation for him. He gets to fleece us a tidy sum one final time whilst the plans to develop the site go through. It's a no brainer because he would just have an empty site not earning any money otherwise. And we all know how much Mr Kassam loves the Benjamins

I imagine FoSB will say "As we said all along, the option to stay at the Kassam Stadium was always on the table and this extension just proves that - it is the club's own fault that their own mismanagement has led to them not being able to stay permanently, and the people of the tiny idyllic hamlet of Kidlington should not be made to pay for that incompetence."

Also still attack with their dr webb knows best environment documents.

We want to see the evidence that you can’t stay.

Evidence is provided today.

That’s just a point of view and you can’t 100% say that anything will happen.

These people are something else, we now need to go into the realms of philosophical possibilities, pretty certain that’s not how local planning law works.

Indeed, it's not.

Though I know this thread loves to get...shall we say "excited"?...when it comes to poking holes in NIMBY arguments, I would say that at this point you would all just be wasting your time. No matter what response FoSB et al may have, philosophical or otherwise, the Planning Committee will have to make their decisions based upon documentation.

They have been provided written confirmation cementing the stadium's finite contract extension and clause. Even if the committee members were to get philosophical, a refusal would get absolutely destroyed upon appeal.

This well-worded press release (presumably someone on our side provided Firoz with those particular lines as part of the agreement) has all-but secured the planning permit.

Looking at her posting activity on ND (Next Door), Letitia Derrington gleefullly posted the non-story in January 2024 that Firoz Kassam was open to
United staying at Kassam Stadium despite the club saying it must find a new home.

I wonder if she will post the follow-up story confirming the final extension of the licence with as much gusto?

She's thicker than a submarines door.

As mentioned before Letitia was one of the moderators who would routinely remove anything from Nextdoor that went against her view. She was, and clearly remains, completely opposed to the stadium and everything to do with Oxford United. The moment that a thread went against her views, regardless of whether it breached the platform rules or not, the whole thing got deleted, including all of the comments that we attached to this.

It doesn't surprise me one bit that the same tactics are being used again, and this is a clear indication that they have lost.

The actions of this lot really got under my skin, and I'm sure it will with others too. Also the Oxford Mail reporting.

But remember that they are all completely irrelevant and we will win through despite the dishonesty and underhanded tactics of those who are nothing but serial losers.

A deliberately misleading headline, disappointing but to be expected from the Ox Fail.

We’ve seen their biased headlines and reporting through out, they alongside their chums at FOSB have now been proven to be on the wrong side of the argument, and history will show it.

This is great news for the club, no doubt!

But, can we calm down with the gratitude for the slum landlord? There is absolutely no doubt and no evidence ever, to suggest that he’s done this for the betterment of OUFC.

Firoz Kassam thinks about Firoz Kassam, only. It’s a trifle nauseating seeing a few supporters giving their gratitude to a bloke that put us in this position in the first place, some 25 years ago no less.
I’m not grateful for him for anything. He has done what he will always do and do what is best for Firoz Kassam & his empire.

However, he could have kicked us out, but I’d suggest he knows he’s likely to get less issues at planning for what he has planned for the site if he plays ball.

He’s safeguarded the future of the club for the next 2 or 3 years at least by agreeing to this short term extension though & although the anti’s will waffle on still, it’s come from the horses mouth & that is worth its weight in gold about us not being able to stay.

Mutual separation eventually & both parties get what they want. I’m just thankful we’ve got some powerful & very rich owners who know how to deal with people like him.
