I wanted to share my letter/email that I have sent to The Councillors this evening. It has really dawned on me that our future is in the balance. I hope we are successful tomorrow in what will be the first significant step to a new beginning for our Club.

Dear All,
I hope this letter finds you in good health. I am writing to you today as a lifelong resident of Oxford and an ardent supporter of Oxford United Football Club. I wanted to express my wholehearted support for the proposed new Oxford United Stadium and to convey the immense significance of this development for our community.
My personal history with Oxford United dates back to my childhood when I first stood on the London Road terrace at The Manor Ground, filled with awe and excitement as I watched the mighty Yellows take the field. Those memories are etched in my heart, and over the years, my passion for the club has only grown stronger. Now, as a man and an uncle, I have had the privilege of sharing the joy and exhilaration of watching our beloved team at the Kassam Stadium with my family. It's more than a sport; it's a tradition, a bond that connects generations, and an enduring source of happiness.

Oxford United Football Club has been a pillar of our community, providing a sense of unity and togetherness that is increasingly rare in today's society. It transcends age, background, and differences, bringing people from all walks of life together to support a common cause. The club is woven into the fabric of Oxfordshire, and its impact extends far beyond the pitch. It instills a sense of pride in our city and fosters a spirit of camaraderie that is unrivaled by any other live sport played in our region.

I believe that the proposed new stadium is not just about bricks and seats; it's about securing the future of Oxford United and preserving the legacy that has meant so much to me and countless others over the years. It represents hope for continued growth, success, and prosperity for our club and, by extension, our community. Therefore, I kindly urge you and all cabinet members to approve the sale or lease of the land at the Triangle, allowing us to move forward to the planning stage.

In these challenging times, when the bonds that tie us together seem fragile, Oxford United stands as a beacon of hope and unity. Let us ensure that this beacon continues to shine brightly for generations to come by supporting the new stadium development.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I trust that you will make the right decision to safeguard the future of our beloved football club and the happiness it brings to Oxfordshire.

Yours sincerely

True. That was reported when the motorcycle training company applied to continue to use the Kassam Stadium car park permanently but were granted permission on a temporary basis due to the local plan and tge carparks being earmarked for housing.

We have to move, simple as that.
I know about the carparks for housing & the bingo hall & the complex for the science park.
I've just not seen it explained like that before. It the bit about the stadium should remain, unless Oxford United find a new home

It's a bloody big day for our football club today lads and lasses am I nervous nope I have faith the council will do the right thing because from day one our club has been professional everything that's been asked of them they've done professionally . Our fans have been so brilliant in getting behind the club ( sending out emails, filling in consultation forms , working together to get other clubs fans on board) I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone involved

Today especially I'm proud to say I'm an Oxford United fan 💛💙

Oxfordshire County Council has dismissed an alternative proposal for the land where Oxford United wants to build its new stadium.
Oxfordshire Projects, a charity commonly known as TRAX, submitted an alternative land use proposal for ‘The Triangle’ in Kidlington where it wanted to build Swedish-style cabins.

The proposal was made to the council's cabinet last Monday (September 11).

A decision will be made over 'The Triangle' today (Tuesday, September 18).

But council leader Liz Leffman told the charity’s trustees that the council was not seeking alternative bids for the site, which is east of Frieze Way and south of Kidlington Roundabout.

A council spokesperson said: "The county council’s cabinet was sent an alternative proposal on September 11 for the use of the Triangle.

"The Leader of the council has responded to confirm that we are not seeking alternative bids for the site.

“Under normal circumstances the council would retain the land as part of the green belt.

“However, we are considering the club’s proposal as an exceptional matter because of the importance of OUFC to the county and the difficulty of finding a site to accommodate it.”

The cabinet is due to decide today (Tuesday, September 19) whether to sell the land to United as the club looks to leave the Kassam Stadium before its lease expires in 2026.

Council officers recommended in a report last week that the sale should be approved.
The council spokesperson said the proposal from TRAX will be “referenced verbally” but not “discussed in detail” at the meeting.

TRAX, which runs its services out of large wooden Swedish-style cabins in Wolvercote, said it wanted to move as it faces pressure to expand.

The charity has supported young people in the community for more than 30 years but said its current site was “tough to work in and limiting.”

Its student headcount is 73 and it wants to increase that number to at least 110.

Following the council’s dismissal of the plans, the charity's trustees said they had "moved on" and were looking for other options.

But a campaign group that is opposed to the new stadium plans has called for today's vote to be delayed so the alternative proposal can be given “due consideration”.

A statement from the Friends of Stratfield Brake said: “We have never understood why alternative uses for the Triangle were not considered alongside Oxford United's speculative proposal, particularly given that the local community has made it clear that it doesn't want a stadium in Kidlington

“We are very interested to see that another proposal has been made by a highly regarded local charity which does a lot of good work in conjunction with the Oxfordshire councils…

“It is of course reasonable to expect that any alternative proposal should be given due consideration in line with the work that Oxfordshire County Council has done with Oxford United, and Cabinet's decision should be delayed to allow this to take place.”
The council spokesperson confirmed the meeting would not be delayed.

If the decision goes agaunst us today then McIvor and her cronies should hang their heads in shame...that land WILL be built on at some point, fingers crossed it will a stadium fit for the future that we can all be proud of....good luck today OUFC.

Thought she wanted a green barrier?!

BBC South have mentioned the county council meeting re the Stadium today - must've taken some doing for to even get a mention over Brighton, Bournemouth, Southampton, Portsmouth, Reading etc

Gosh. There must be no road closures in Andover or an absence of a cat up a tree in Dorchester (the Dorset one) for us to be that far up the ‘local’ news.
