Media New Official Club Website

On the homepage, you can hover over the fixtures, and it looks like you can click through, even adds a little arrow indicating this...

...clicking though? Does absolutely nothing. Here's an idea, why don't you link it to the page that sells the tickets for the game?

Totally agree. One of the worse websites I've seen in YEARS.
I can only imagine the web design was handed over for some sort of school web design project.

Nothing about it is intuitive or user friendly in any way.

Dread to think what the kit is gonna be like, probably be designed from an American football kit or something

As I run a web design company, from the outset I declined to comment on the website 'design' as that would be unfair.

That said, I was gobsmacked the website was released in the state that it was. All my websites are thoroughly road-tested on a 'staging domain', so everything is ironed out prior to launch.

I'm also gobsmacked, that here we are some 4 weeks later, and there are still many examples of poor user experience and navigation issues / errors that have not been resolved.

I am also a web professional - I simply *could not* release a site in the state it is, even now. I'd be having sleepless nights.

Has anyone tried turning @ZeroTheHero off and on again?

I can think of one poster on here who would be bang up for the latter.
it's probably the constant turning off and turning on cycle which is causing him to miss out on sleep in the first place.

Not a web pro, but been involved in a lot of pro web dev projects. Original state is one thing, not to have some things sorted after this long...
One thing I think probably contributed to (but not excused) this is the end of the old framework linked to some key people moving on.
There seems to be no coordinated thought in the management of anything comms related - especially the site. Yes there has been lots that has had to be done, but we do have probably more management at the club now than possibly ever before - is it too much to expect them to actually manage effectively?

It's definitely getting tidier maybe because of all our comments - should think the synching of ifollow and other sources will have caused duplication and other issues - yes this could have been sorted before but time pressures like with ticket outsourcing etc. Generally for me it is cleaner with no issues for colour blind folk like me - the dreaded red on black text of ifollow consigned to the past please.

I just noticed if you scroll down to the bottom of the website on your phone there is a line stating ios and android apps coming soon. I look forward to that

Yet another web and digital pro here. It's a dogs dinner. A pretty generic template site from a third party executed by amateurs. Like my esteemed colleagues can't be bothered to itemise the numerous flaws but one thing that *really* gets my goat is the sheer bloody idiocy of migrating years worth of news articles, match reports and press releases into the new site but not including a year on any of the dates. Not sure why that bothered me quite so much and small fry compared to other UX and IA balls ups - perhaps its because it so clearly highlights the lack of basic thought that went into the whole thing.

I’m absolutely not a web pro, but there seem to be plenty on here. Have any contacted the club to offer their advice? Just wondering.

Club don't really take advice from anyone about anything these days (except on the community side). It's generally an "I know best, I must control everything" vibe unfortunately. TBH the obvious thing in this case would have been to reach out and recruit some pre-launch user testers via places like this or even OUSP/OxVox - that's certainly what most sensible organisations would do with such a loyal and close 'customer' base. @SwissYellow did a good Twitter thread a couple of weeks ago pointing out some of this stuff and how skilled the Oxford fanbase is. Others on here will have much more recent experience trying to offer expertise in different speciliasms and met brick walls - its a culture thing. Anyhow, we know the club visit this forum and if the SLA or anyone working on marketing were to reach out pretty sure they'd get lots of great free insight or help.

its a bit rubbish - and Im no expert, more of a luddite technophobe me.

IMO a website should be simple, straightforward and easy to use... the 'new' club website isn't any of them
It's getting there Sarge - another new info sorting today update-the app perhaps will be more user friendly. Atm it seems there are too many strands and having to move away onto another platform for tickets doesn't help anyway I did manage to buy tickets and a membership recently finally!

Fair points, thanks, and by posting that I hope the club do take notice.
