Can’t believe we are here again but anyway ….. Challinor looks a very obvious appointment based on the season ahead but a concern that he can’t quite get over the line in the play offs from L1 as that is probably about where we are destined to end up. Manning I think is off the radar, he’s clearly not in the right frame of mind to get back involved. No thanks to any ex either. I’ve been a continual advocate for John Terry and if we were to go down the untried route he’d be the standout in my opinion. When you look at the success of the likes of Hurtzler, Iraola etc then I definitely wouldn’t dismiss the idea of a young, upcoming foreigner but it would unquestionably be a gamble.

The names of young PL coaches will be tossed around but they’re a huge risk too - for every McKenna or Barry-Murphy there will be an Eric Ramsey. It would seem that we need to move quickly on a lot of fronts and my guess is that a new manager will be in place within a week.

Yes it would be a highly unusual for such a high profile ex player and manager but not as strange as Ramon Diaz.
