Current Staff New Head of Recruitment

Fair play if it helps improve player recruitment and our football operations.

Does a club our size need it with Ed already running things?

I've mentioned before that while I'm not ITK as regards Oxford, I have a friend who works for a Wycombe sponsor and is close to the club - I asked him about Mitchell and he said he was integral to the recruitment over the past two summers, particularly this year and that Bloomfield was mightily upset to lose him.

Wycombe's rationale was that he wasn't needed in their new data based approach, to which Bloomfield countered that 'data' didn't have contacts in the game and relationships with clubs, managers, players and agents. There's a bit of an internal battle going on between Bloomfield, the owners and the head of football, Dan Price.

That sounds mad. I assumed they’d fired him cos he’d been talking with us.

If anything our problem lies more with trying to sign ‘good championship players’ when you look at the likes of Phillips, Placheta, Vaulks etc & compare them to Cumming. Kioso & El Mizouni

That's very true. I'm sure there are some compelling reasons to join us rather than other sides, though. That said, keeping him and Scarlett content at once will be tricky.

I'll be interested to see just how good Doak is on Saturday. I wonder how close we were to getting that loan move done? Feels like a missed opportunity now, though I doubt we were likely to be able to compete with Boro for his services.

Doak was never going to come to us in the summer, linked with Premier League clubs, and Boro felt lucky to get him, remember at that time we were the heavy favourites to go down
