Netherlands v England

The Ref likes giving a soft free kick doesn't he?

As for VAR, they've made it a quest in hoping the fans and media work out what was given, cause it feels like a lucky dip tonight. Why oh why are they leaving obvious off sides to VAR, is beyond me.

England's defending has been terrible. Even school boys would be embarrassed.

Another cock up passing around at the back. What is Southgate playing at? Only has a plan A??? It was obvious that how we were playing was no good.

3-1 Holland.

The stats don't lie, we've been s**t and the defence has been utterly moronic

Also thought Dumfries should have been yellow carded early on for a cynical take out of Chilwell. Blatant and clear. He was then booked ten mins later which would have been a red

Maguire us a decent player.
But he was shocking today. They could have scored 4 on his mistakes only.
We were poor but still could easily have won ( Sancho miss, offside goal)

Not the worst performance but certainly one of the most embarrassing.

Why all this P**s poor passing?

Still a hero in my eyes, oh hang on a minute!...

Netherlands the better team from start to the end, their passing and control was so much more precise than ours.
Walker, Maguire, Barkley, and especially Stones, far too sloppy and casual in possession... they think they are better than they actually are.

A fair result.

Sorry to say that England were shockingly bad tonight. They were beaten by a Netherlands side that are really not that great and But for Pickford it could have been much worse.
Defensively we were all over the place.... Another opportunity to progress wasted by some woeful performances.

Pathetic. Why the fashion for pissing around at the back? Even top teams lose out by doing it. Sometimes you need to put your foot through it!

It was more to do with poor decision making/stupidity. Stones at fault for all three goals, but Barkley didn’t help either.

First goal Stones completely loses his man.

Second goal, Barkley held on to the ball too long initially before playing a ball back to Maguire who in turn played it to Stones. All Stones had to do was play it back to Pickford then offer an angle for the return, but he dilly dallied with it thinking he’s better than he is.

Third goal, again Stones plays a poor ball into Barkley who has a man up his a**e and back to play. Stones could have played it back to Pickford who in turn could have then gone to Maguire/Chilwell who both had acres of space on the left, thus retaining the ball.

Yes, there are times when you have to put your foot through the ball which you could argue Stones should have done for the third, but I feel that two of the three goals were down to poor decision makings/stupidity.

The fine margins of football but for a milimetre we would likely be saying this morning, Holland shaded it but at last England are hard to beat and dug in and found a way to win. that 15 minute spell up to the offside we were in total control and bossed that period looking like the only side that would win.
This competition was another learning curve and far better than meaningless friendlies, i think when thought through clearly most are fairly happy with a style of playing from the back and if as some suggest we should have put a foot through the ball they would be ctiticised for forever giving the ball back to opponents...We are a side capable of giving anyone a game but just at the moment not up there with the best but we're not too far away and progress has been made.
