Ex Player Nathan Holland

I’ve always said that there are two men - Robinson the coach and Robinson the man.

Robinson the man - up to him. Robinson the coach, let’s see. I can admit someone has done a good job without thinking they’re not a total w****r.

I support the club. Other people support the manager, even though he is the one who is trying to make fans side with him over the board (which he also did for a time last summer), while simultaneously moving the pieces around to make an exit. They’re the same people who accuse others of not being ‘proper fans’, even though they’re siding with a man who won’t be here next season unless Liverpool don’t want him for their U23 role. Which is inherently stupid, blinkered and utterly backwards, not to mention hilariously hypocritical. They’re probably the same people who think he’s some sort of mental health hero, even though he went on the radio last season and hung out young players such as Mitchell to dry with his “he isn’t my goalkeeper” sound bites, which caused him serious struggles. Not to mention the way he tried to paint Ivo Pekalski out as some sort of villain and tried to force him out, saying if he didn’t tear his contract up he would make him run, run and run some more, even though he was coming back from a career threatening injury and had a track record of poor mental health which he had been brave enough to speak up about back in Sweden.

I think a few people need to learn a thing or two about basic observational skills and balance. You don’t have to adore somebody who does a decent job. Although let’s see what his priorities are in a few months.
You’re possibly too hard on him. He just opens his mouth and his thoughts spill out, I’m not sure he’s nasty so much as a bit of a fool at times

Disagree. I’ve met the man and spent time with him. Think he’s very calculated and knows exactly what he’s doing. Have also never heard him apologise for doing things like throwing young players and those who are vulnerable under the bus to try to save his own skin. He’s good at deflecting, not so good at reflecting. And trust me, there are plenty of players and staff at other clubs who don’t like him. I know some of them myself. I base my opinions on some sort of basic depth and knowledge beyond sound bites and interviews - that’s why I’m so happy to stand by them.

End of the day, I don’t have to like the guy, and I don’t see why so many people have got a problem with that. I’ve probably got more firsthand experience of him than 95% of the people who can’t accept that I don’t think he’s the second coming. I hope we do well on the pitch no matter who is in charge, and that he doesn’t leave us in too terrible a state while subsequently claiming we are struggling purely because he’s not around.

People are free to like and dislike whoever they want. I give reasons for why I think and feel the way that I do. If that makes some people pee their pants, tough. It’s a bit weird that they’re so defensive of a man they don’t even know. Ultimately I’m easy to find if anybody ever wants a proper chat about what I think and why. I’m not a keyboard warrior or some sort of anonymous shadow lurking beneath the street lights. Which is more than I can say for most on this forum.

I don’t really want to turn a thread about Nathan Holland into this bullshit. If anyone really can’t handle the fact that I think Karl Robinson is an idiot of a bloke, they’re free to message me. Otherwise let’s crack on with the subject at hand.

You may be right, I have no idea. Most of us can only go on soundbites. He’s done a really good job and the team seem very united. I grant that some of his comments about players are odd

Does this mean now that Nathan Holland could still feature for us as the season has been heavily delayed? Or is this injury putting him out beyond this season (whenever we resume)????

It depends on what specialist support he is able to receive. My understanding was that there was a weakness identified in his hamstrings that needed looking at the prevent long term damage, which was why he was looking at around 3 months out, then a very structured pre-season to get him back. Although he will be getting plenty of rest and may feel better, he is unlikely to be getting the specialist support he needs right now. Hopefully once some of the restrictions are lifted he'll be in a good place to kickstart his recovery but I'd be surprised if he returned anytime before late summer.

... and there was me thinking that you were positive panda Scotchers!!!??
Nathan Holland may well be working in PC World soon along with a lot of ex footballers. i can see the value and wages of soccer players going thorugh the floor, especially the current inflated ones for non-proven young players.

Fully agree on Pekalski. The way he spoke publicly about him in an interview, after a game was nothing short of shameful. Saying he'd have to learn to kick a ball before being considered for the first team squad, amongst other things.

good luck with not picking up any injuries, and welcome back on board Nathan

Happy with that if he can stay fit and add some goals I think he will be up there as the best LW in league one this season now get Whyte and our attack will be frightening

Two things I remember from his first spell:

1) He was always happy to run with the ball and look to progress through the final third where possible.

2) He was more than happy to track back and do his defensive duties in the middle of the pitch.

The second duty is where we've maybe been lacking with Barker and Shodipo as the LW options last year.
