Ok, so where do we go now?

Presumably the Board have acted now in an attempt to preserve our status in the Championship.

Who is around, available and experienced enough to drag us to safety ahead of planning for the new stadium?

My guess is Pulis. I wouldn’t say no to Steve Cotterill.

Massive pressure on the board and the new man to come in and get this right straight away after this decision. It needs to be quick aswell with the Christmas period and January window right round the corner.

Think it will be Robins or Mowbray. Wouldn’t surprise me if Bloomfield is on any sort of list aswell.

It couldn’t be Neil Harris surely? Not someone I’d choose. Lee Carsley? Probably not.

That would require us to pay Milwall compensation. I can't see us going for anyone who is employed.

Mark Robins would be my choice.

Last time round I said we should get John Eustace and he's turned out decent for Blackburn.

No mention of an interim like they usually announce, the club must be pretty confident on getting someone in quick.

Harris is unemployed, stated an extra 2 games after a falling out and is gone now

New man to be in place by Boxing Day? Won't be holding my breath but, won't expect to see many, if any, of the board or senior management in the directors box if they haven't made an appointment. We may not be great singers in the SSU but some of us have been known to be fairly vocal when riled.

As I pointed out yesterday on another thread, Adi Viveash lives near Swindon, and has been commuting to Coventry for 7 years. I suggested he come in to help Des, which would have been my preferred option. But looks like he and Robbins are on their way (hopefully).

Viveash left Cov because the new female Director of performance raised concerns that he was being too hard on the players, and using inappropriate language that may upset them at training…..!! So they seriously fell out and there was only one winner. Robbins wasn’t happy, and hence the unraveling at Coventry. This isn’t rumour, it’s well known amongst Cov fans.

I hope they are soon announced as the new Management team at Ox 🤞🏻

Maybe Robins seems decently realistic? Close geography wise to former job, and would join in a similar position to what he has been in with Coventry before.

Don't forget also a recent play-off final manager.

Would be my maybe-somewhat realistic first choice, but think someone is lined up or preferred definitely.

Good in the fa cup too

I don't think we'd be able to get both Robins and Viveash given they had a signficant falling out only recently, with Viveash having left because they couldn't patch things up sufficiently.
It seems Robins struggled without a seasoned assistant manager, so I think the team around the head coach will be almost as important as the man himself, as we have seen with Des.

Someone has to be lined up for us to make this decision now so either it'll be Robins, but if he goes to Millwall then we'll likely go for Harris. I think we'll probably have to go for someone proven rather than a 'learning' manager because time is of the essence to save the season.

If we bring someone new in and keep the current coaching set-up in place it will be utterly pointless.

Any new manager has to be able to bring their own team in

I for one hugely disappointed he sounded a broken man on radio yesterday yes results not great but the same you can say about the others around us that are established in division. With the budget and size of us compared to others I would of waited till the January market and gone from there were not cut adrift the cost of compo last year and now the faceless board from afar bunch of typical foreigners that know nothing about homegrown talent etc and what good it does the local community.
Well that's me done now till newyear given up watching ruined my Xmas was looking forward to boxing day now not bothered going now stuff the board etc.... Wish the team well but it's left bad taste in mouth and will just have nice xmas with a few beers with friends and not think about it.

The irony of appointing someone like Robins will be the financial package required to tempt him (or someone of his experience) to take on the position. To have sacked Des because of the failure to maintain a mid-table position and the financial enhancement of the Championship against the increased outlay to secure a new head coach (and, of course any settlement of Buckingham's contract) will mean yet more backing needed with no guarantee of success.

I do hope that someone at the club sees fit to explain all of this to us mere mortals.
