Encouraging signs so far. If he demonstrated some end product, be it a goal when through or crosses that penetrate, then he probably wouldn't be with us.

Last thing we need is another player playing out wide that is all fart and no sh1t. Hopefully the goals and assists will follow as confidence grows and understanding builds with the other forward players.

Yep - decision making at the crucial moment is a bit off at the moment, but the fact that he's getting himself into those positions to start with is more important and hoepfully the decision making and confidence to back himself will come with game time.

Lord knows we need players who are not shot shy!

I think he is best suited more centrally. He played more there vs MK Dons and looked good. Issue with him playing as a 10 is we then need a left winger (possibly Jin-Woo), but also means playing 2 in central midfield in a 4-2-3-1. Whenever we have tried that we get over run and we definitely look better with one sitting and two slightly more advanced without a number 10. But im guessing playing with a 10 is the long term goal seeing as we have MPH and Donley.

In the latest interview said his best position is as an 8 or a 10.

I liked the way he was dropping pretty deep at times against MK Dons to cover forward runs from the other two.

His position is all going to come down to who else is firing I guess.

Says Konak is like a little brother too. With the exception of Jeon, that means all the new signings have got players in the squad they've played with a fair bit before...

Can only be a good thing.

His lay offs, strength on the ball, aerial ability and vision would all be very welcome in the 10 role for us, particularly while Donely isn’t available.

Unfortunately, with Placheta unavailable and Woo not ready yet, we’re kind of relying on him there (in a position he has played before) because Krastev and Dembele don’t offer as much.

To be fair to him if Mills could finish a pretty good chance he would have had an assist already!

That's why "assists" has always been a shite metric to look at. Now if there were 'Expected Assists'...
Or even better xA per 90.

He has played almost all over his career as a winger. Can play as number 9 or number 10 as well, but most clubs/ coaches seem to see him as a winger!
Sure a different type of winger to Mills, but it doesn't mean that he isn't a winger?
I’d prefer him at 9 to Harris tbh.

I said when he signed I've got no problem with a short term contract, it shows confidence and if he proves himself we've likely stayed up, but now it's looking more like I'd be gutted to lose him. Early days but he was exceptional today and very good Tuesday night.

Well done to the recruitment team too, looks a brilliant signing.

Different player to Josh Murphy but he reminds me of him, they’ve both got that lovely balance and ability to skip pass opponents with apparent ease. Team players too.

A bit surprised he’s had to drop down to the bottom of the Championship to get game time, but I’m glad he’s here.

Seems a pretty similar player to Phillips to me, just with a lot more left in the tank

I did think to myself the other day is this what Phillips was like in his heyday, similar size and skillset (when Phillips had pace obviously).

Do we know if there was a few involved in this deal?

I know he was was ooc at Brentford at the end of this season, so if we've managed to get him for nothing, then based on his performances so far, that really is outstanding business.

He strikes me as a more mobile Matty Phillips. Good hold up play, vision and passing.

Surely the chances of him staying beyond the end of the season are nil? He's openly said we are his temporary shop window.
Be amazed if he's here next year, but never say never.

If he helps keep us up and we're able to make him feel like a king while he's here, and we can convince him we'll improve the squad again in the summer and have a chance if pushing up the table, then you never know.

We can dream, right?!

If we stay up, he’s enjoying his time here and has made friends and feels he can continue to progress somewhere where he’s number one choice, you never know…

But only if we match the highest offer from another club, I'm afraid.
This isn't always the case. Especially for a player like him who has had loan spells of various success and a serious injury too. If he feels at home and knows he's at a club where he will play minutes, there's a good chance he'd turn down a club paying marginally more where he risks losing that security. Not everyone will think this way, just look at Matos, but it's not always just a case of take the highest offer. Roofe certainly had better offers on the table before signing on a perm
