Think he did mean it like that and as I said earlier in the thread if he comes , and is a temp legend fantastic and he deserves his deal elsewhere
Pretty much what Josh Murphy did, but we had to pay him for X months before he decided to put himself in the shop window.

I have no problem with MPH doing it, if we stay up then we'll be in pole position for his signature, it would be up to the board and management to then live up to his expectations.

I thought he looked very useful, and the 100+ minutes will have done him and us the world of good for the matching coming up.

Hopefully, it will at least be a mutually beneficial arrangement.

He helps us to stay up and wants to stay, great! He helps us to stay up and wants to leave, fine.

As I said, he was clearly (and rightfully) shattered after the match, so his tone of voice in the post match interview should be disregarded. It was just my immediate reaction upon hearing the interview, it just sounded a bit Billie Big b*****s. But very happy to be proven wrong, and that tweet shared above would certainly suggest I was reading too much into it.

Pretty encouraging. Not sure he looks that rapid. Took up good positions. Shielded the ball well.

I like his contract situation. He won't feel trapped - a razor-edge focus on the next 4 months.

If he helps keep us up, there's a good prospect of a longer deal with no fee.

It's like a loan, but better than a loan.

I think in our position this is a good signing for the club. As you say better than a loan because the player doesn’t have the safety net of just going back to his club. Myles will want this to work out, which benefits all of us. The other difference is I expect we are paying most if not all of his Brentford wage and not a lower percentage we see with loans. Fair play to the club for stumping up the cash.

Really liked him today, but he's not a left winger. Hope we see him playing as a 10 if use one going forward.
Donley is a 10 as well so it would be a shame if we were to play with a 6 and two 8s under Bloomfield, as they both seem like very competent signings.

I noticed he added a lot of strength to his passes, particularly short ones.

I wonder if he's used to playing with players that have better ball control so that they can take on the extra weight of the pass, but not sure.

Strange he seemed so reluctant to cross (with either foot), but looked good on the break and great in the air. Big guy!

Not a bad call to bring on Phillips at the end really, if only to put one decent ball into the box.

Could be he's actually better in the middle, or even on the right, but that was maybe as encouraging a performances as we've seen on the left this season - and still reckon it's where we'll need him most.

As he gets to know his teammates he's only going to get better.

Currie needs a consistent partner to link up with.

Time for this old debate...

A 6 is a central defender. If you mean a defensive central midfielder, you mean a 4.

I will die on this rock.

The trouble is this varied from country to country. I can only assume that the modern term "number 6" for a CDM originates from a country where this was historically the case (i.e. not the UK).

We have done this before and whilst I agree, I shall also say that 6 is more of a lingua franca word for a DM.

I have read a few comments that he 'is not a winger'.
Interested in where this comes from as last season he was a winger the majority if times he played?

Got to be honest, I'm not sure where all the praise for his performance yesterday has come from. I was pretty disappointed overall.

My main gripe is he comes here making a point about it being a short term deal with the implication he doesn't want to drop below Championship level. Absolutely no problem with that at my end, if he proves himself we're probably in a good position to get him permanently and worse case he has helped us stay up which is the most important thing. It shows some confidence in his own ability which is great but then he put in a pretty timid display when he was on the ball. He must have faced up his man a dozen times and I don't recall him beating him once, almost always turning back and playing the safe pass. There was a breakaway in the first half where he got through but tried to cut back on his right and lost the chance, something Dembele was slated for a couple of weeks ago against Swansea. Have a bit of faith and hit it with your weaker foot.

I would expect him to improve and I like his physicality, he didn't have a bad game but he played much too safely yesterday. Compare to Mills who is always willing to risk losing possession to put a cross in or have a shot and it's night and day, Phillips contributed almost as much from an attacking standpoint in 10 minutes yesterday. Hopefully Bloomfield will encourage him to have more of a go going forwards because he seems to have a bit of skill as well as pace and power, he's done ok at this level before with Swansea so there's a player there. If he's not going to use his left though we can't play him that side as it's much too easy to defend against.

I think general consensus has moved on, @Emilio. I also come from an era where your architypal deep lying midfielder was always a '4', but it's regularly referred to in terms of 6/8/10, where the 6 is defensive, the 8 standard/box-to-box and the 10 is advanced/in the hole.

Soz.

This modern this of calling players by a shirt number is particularly strange in a game where shirt numbers no longer actually do represent positions like they used to.

Just say striker, Cam, CDM, winger etc etc

He has played almost all over his career as a winger. Can play as number 9 or number 10 as well, but most clubs/ coaches seem to see him as a winger!
Sure a different type of winger to Mills, but it doesn't mean that he isn't a winger?

I don't think that he's an old fashioned winger, but more a modern forward who can play anywhere across the front 4.

But regardless, I thought he did well yesterday at giving us a high outlet that would allow us to stretch play. He could have come inside himself on occasions or moved the ball quicker, but that will hopefully come as he gets used to playing with others.

But all in all, I've been impressed and he's a huge step up on all other options on the left.

I think he's been employed in wide positions, but, in my opinion, he's not a winger in the traditional sense of the word.

No maybe not.
But like yesterday he has generally been employed as a wide forward.
Currie also seemed to get forward well also- hopefully they can make a good partnership.

Peart Harris has great close control. Looks so confident on the ball. Would intertwine well with Greg Leigh. Leigh just loves bombing forward. Trouble is, Jack the hat Currie comes into the equation.....................an embarrassment of riches? No, not really.

Greg Leigh’s best mate could be playing ahead of him, but I’d still pick Currie at LB

I thought Currie-MPH looked as strong a left hand side partnership as we’ve had in the Championship.

An interesting debate - what’s the biggest number crime since squad numbers became a thing?

Rui Patricio #11 at Wolves?
Milan Baros #5 at Liverpool?
