An upgrade on Harris and good to see us going for talented young players not quite good enough for the premier league.
That approach has served us well over the years.

He's centre / left.

Believes in strong public services, a regulated market economy & reducing inequality through fair government action.
Ah…all very well, but is he in favour of Kidlington becoming a town/citeh, the new stadium, and/or green and purple shirts?

Asking for a friend..

COYYs!

Great deal on a permanent, even if only a short contract. You would imagine that there are terms about extending in the summer when we stay up. Alongside Donley, thats the potential for two long term signings that could become big assets.

Feeling positive that we're beginning to go in the right direction but still protecting ourselves from holding huge contracts if the worst was to happen.

I wouldn't bank on that. He'll be taking a big pay cut, leaving a PL club to come to us.
This feels like a case where he's backing himself, taking a short deal on a lower salary (for him) with a plan to rip up the Championship for the next four months. But if he does, he'll want to be in the middle of a bidding war, not tied to us on a one-way option.

I still think it's a great signing - especially because he's going to be super-motivated to prove himself. But I suspect the only way he's with us next season is if he's good not great over the next few months (course in the worst case scenario where he's rubbish, he loses out and we move on)

Matt Phillips ending his career for three years or Myles-Peart Harris looking for a PL contract in the summer for six months. I reckon we all know who we'd want. Agree with you, let's enjoy the six months and see what happens!

You may be right, but I’m also wondering why other clubs weren’t in for him who would be prepared to offer a longer term deal now. So I don’t think it’s a given that he won’t be with us next season if he’s successful. An interesting and slightly unusual piece of business from both sides this one.

I'm sure he wanted to stay in the Championship.

But he's not proven at this level, yet. He did OK last year in his 18 starts with Swansea, but not well enough clearly for them to want to sign him permanently.

I can understand why there wouldn't be a line of Championship suitors wanting to offering him a multi-year contract right now.

Hence he signs this 'Prove it' contract to show everyone what he can do, in the hope that they will be lining up for him in June.

What he would be offered wage wise would be quite low now than in comparison to if he does well with us, as a free agent if a couple of bigger champions clubs are after him in the summer then he will get a very lucrative contract.

Plus Brentford might not have been disposed to let him go for free to a bigger championship club.

He is essentially here as a shop window, but if he does well we could both benefit financially, him from a well paying contract elsewhere and us from the championship revenue next season.

Very unlikely he will play for after the end of this season but it’s an innovative way of bringing someone whose talent may have put him out of our reach at a time we need extra quality.

I'd be surprised if he's taken a pay cut. Would think that the deal would have been to end his contract at Brentford early with us matching his pay for the next 6 months.

Signed for a seven figure sum by a Premier League club, and into their first team squad (he was on the bench a bunch in his first season, even if he never made it onto the pitch)?

Suspect that puts his Brentford wages up there with, or maybe above what Cam is earning.

Would be aggressive if we're matching that.

Interesting deal..assume he's out of contract in the summer.
Come and make a name for yourself. Be a temp legend and get the deal you want in the summer

Not to take away from the thread positivity, but what was this about his post game stuff that was mentioned?
