General Most You've Celebrated An Oxford Goal

The only disappointing thing about Magilton's goal that night was the stewards had been moved, replaced by the Police, after they celebrated the Leeds equaliser in the faces of the us in the away end. In the process causing trouble where there hadn't been any.

To have celebrated that back in their faces instead would have been magic as well as doing likewise at the final whistle.
The worst thing about Magilton's winner at Leeds was it was his last game for us - he was transferred to Southampton the next day if I remember correctly. What a let down that was.

Our third against York City in the play off final. Wasn't even about celebrating the goal or the scoreline, I just absolutely lost it with the release of getting back into the football league after some really brutal away days.

That goal just put 'everything' right.

How about back in the day when we were playing Everton away. I can only think I didn't go to this one because I was working. But BBC Radio Oxford were always doing a football special with quizzes to phone in on. The woman that evening reported we were 1-0 up and played a record. We were going f*****g mental at home whilst they probably played September by Earth Wind and Fire.

Anyway the record finishes and she comes back on to say actually it was a goal for Everton.

Does anybody remember this ?

Can I have two?
Mark Creighton's last minute winner in our first Blue Square game at home to York.
And Stuart Massey's last minute equalizer away to Forest in the cup. I double knee capped myself in the rush to the corner flag and on some days I can still feel it.

The obvious Wembley wins and goals v sw*nd*n ( away especially, and winning goals against them extra-especially) excepted, a few that have stuck in my getting foggier n foggier memory in no particular order, Moody's 3rd away v Cardiff, Beano's last min winner away to Crawley, Mickey Lewis' screamer at the Manor, Rambo Brigg's diving header from at least 25 yards out at the Manor- cant remember who it was against , Jim Magilton equalising fk away v Leeds in the fa cup ( I think), Bill Calder at the Manor V Blackburn Rovers ( Fa cup), Tyler's late equaliser yesterday - there are of course many others that would've been similarly celebrated too...

Great shout. I did a knee slide across my living room when that one went in!

Les Phillips v Everton, it meant so much at the time
Steve Biggins v Man Utd, left side London rd, I swear I jumped up but didn’t touch the ground for what seemed like minutes .
There are so many but I always think scoring against the so called bigger teams is better,
Sunderland and Pompey fans are a deluded bunch so scoring against them is great.

Nathan Holland last minute equaliser against Newcastle in the fa cup 2020. Watching it at home and Mrs mooro to this day comments in disbelief about how me and my son both leapt off the sofa in unison....

2010/11 vs Port Vale.

They equalised in the 92nd. They invaded the pitch.
We kicked off and within seconds Tom Craddock won it for us. I completely lost it and almost broke my shin on the seat in front. I still have the scar.

It was oddly attributed to Matt Green for ages. The commentator says Craddock but the graphic says Green.

Still, a lovely injury time winner.

Definitely Craddock - was right in front of me when I was in the East Stand

Can’t recall celebrating one quite as wildly as I did Potter’s goal at Wembley that sealed our return to the football league. Hall’s winner at Swindon and Beano’s double all memorable too. I’m sure there were lots back in the 70’s and 80’s as well but memory fading !

Beano's header deep into injury time against Wrexham in 08/09 that hit the underside of the bar, down, and up into the roof of the net to win the game 1-0 and keep the playoff charge going for another week.

Also, for some totally bizarre reason, Gary Twigg's penalty against Forest Green at the death on opening day a while back was good fun.

That’s got to be one of our worst ever kits. The white numbers, the godawful bridle logo, white trim on shorts and socks, and of course the distinct lack of yellow. Add in the old shitty font for the EFL names and numbers and it’s just terrible.
