I can't be bothered to read back but I will say that most Refs have played the game at some level even if at only youth level/local, just not semi/pro. Refs don't just start refereeing without ever seeing football before.

I completely agree with your point, but still feel it’s significant if more ex players are becoming referees, particularly semi professional pros.
I don’t play anymore, but do try and watch a lot of local football. The berating refs get is unacceptable. It’s certainly got worse in the 10 years I’ve not played. I generally believe had a respected individual been involved to tell there so odd of the d

Well, there is a difference between questioning decisions and messaging someone to say you know where their kids go to school and they need to watch out. It shouldn't take stopping anyone from questioning anything to not have ****heads making threats against a person and their family.
