Dot Counting Millwall (Home) Ticket Thread - Sat 30th November (12.30pm)

Attendance tracking
9.30pm update on Wednesday 13th (first day of open sales) and there are 1,459 home seats available, which are distributed:

North Stand 298
East Stand 209
South Stand Upper 257
South Stand Lower 695

By comparison there were just 810 seats left on the first day of open sales for the Middlesbrough match so we are a fair way behind that in terms of the rate of sales.

2.00pm update on Sunday 17th and there have been 317 sales since Wednesday evening.

Currently 1,142 home seats available, which are distributed:

North Stand 191
East Stand 131
South Stand Upper 196
South Stand Lower 624

One of the slower rate of sales for matches this season and might struggle to sell out given the early kick off and opposition.

Opposition?

It's in the Millwall ticket thread, so I'd hazard a guess at Millwall.
He means what has the opposition got to do with it, in reference to the post he's quoted.

It's really not difficult if you engage your brain, rather than try to have a cheap dig.

I wonder if this is highlighting that Millwall are less attractive than Middlesbrough, Sheffield Wednesday or the Christmas games that it's sandwiched between.

That said, I'd be amazed if this doesn't sell out, even if some other games are taking priority at the moment.

Yes agree.
No idea why any Saturday game wouldn't sell out.

Personally I don’t see Millwall as one of the bigger teams in the league and their fan base may discourage some families from attending. There is no doubt that the 12.30pm kick off is less popular and affects plenty also.

We may still sell out but think it will be touch and go based on early sales trends.

If people are put off by Millwalls reputation because of the bad old days then it’s strange that Middlesbrough don’t have that effect, anyone ITK will tell you that boro was as bad or even worse.

I guess anyone ITK wouldn't be put off by the reputation!

When we played Millwall in that cup thing I had to jump into a bush to avoid galloping police horses and weird-looking London lads. Middlesbrough I have no view on, they're just burly men in red and some fans chanting in northern accents.

I went to the FA Cup game in Middlesbrough and have to say they were some of the best fans I’ve ever met. Really friendly before and after the game. What a match, right up there in my best away days short list. 1, 2, 3, 4 Tony Martinez. And when the players coach came in to the service station on the way home….

I had to choose between missing the Middlesbrough game or Millwall. I chose to miss this game mainly because of the earlier kick-off time.

Not selling out at this level would be the epitome of tinpotness

Not that I think it will happen, but I think we're a long way from labelling our own fanbase as tinpot.

Last season we averaged 9000 fans, the highest average in nearly 40 years. This season has only seen numbers drop for a Tuesday night game against Hull, and maybe an early kickoff game against Millwall. This is a game surrounded by more attractive games and competing against Christmas events along with the usual difficulties for families with their own football commitments on Saturday mornings. And all of this is taking place at a cold and miserable stadium will rubbish public transport links.

I can't see any other games where we will drop numbers which will see us averaging around 11,400 which will be our best for over 50 years.

I'm tired of people running our own club or our fanbase down. Things may not be perfect, but we're absolutely not tinpot.

Am I the only one not really bothered by how many people go along or how much they shout? I'd watch us at Court Place Farm and still enjoy it, as long as we were competitive.

I'm not sure what 'tinpot' means exactly but it seems to apply more to an outfit like Man U or Spurs, overhyped, overpaid, but unsuccessful again and again.
