International News Immigration

And from what I've read, they've growing issues with it and it will only get worse. Some towns and villages are being taken over by nature again which is good for nature in the long term I will admit. What do you think will happen with public services with falling tax take to pay for them whilst cost pressures are increasing with no immigration? Also, there will be even less people to do those public services.
well you have to wonder why they are still very anti immigration then .

Taking a leap of faith and recklessly assuming that's true: Yes! You do have to wonder.

well i have seen videos of people saying about there time there and being refused properties to rent to foreigners etc .

More than none. Like the more than none who died in the back of the lorry a while back. You seen to base your whole argument on, well, lies. Bit like Johnson really.
I dont take any pleasure in that its just a comparison.

is that the excuse then imagine the same thing happening here today would be all over the news .

Well quite. That said I think it is a carryover/legacy from their relatively recent history when you had the Samurai period and the military period that followed up to the end of WW2.

Just think how many in this country still look back on our "strength" when a world dominating Empire and how the legacies of the Empire still linger in our political and cultural lives.

As I said previously, just a guess really though.

House building is just the coal that fuels the fire of consumerism.

Lots of people make a lot of money out of it and the residents get that money that has been "made" (literally) sat on their bit of the spreadsheet for 25 years or so.

The people move in, they buy stuff, they consume stuff and the wheel keeps on turning.

Indeed.

Of course if 300,000 new homes were built each year, and the 'housing crisis' really did end, then a lot of the above would become moot. That's why it will never happen. Drip feed, keep the prices high and rising. Everyone's* a winner.

*Except the millions who aren't of course.

Shrewd businessman.......

or

Profiting from misery......

Depending on your views....

£1.5 million / 162 rooms / 150 days = £60 a day per room or £50 after VAT. So the hotel fully booked for five months. and nobody even staying there!

Anyone in the hotel industry know what average capacity rates and room rates are ?

Apparently, for reasons unknown to anybody. The UK Government are planning on flying asylum seekers halfway round the World to Rwanda to process their claims, rather than simply just doing it in Britain.
This is a huge, wasteful, unnecessary cost on the public purse, at a time when we’re facing the biggest cost of living crisis in 80 years!!
Not to mention the ridiculous carbon footprint it will cause!! 😡

That is just foul. The government will do anything to appeal to their nasty core voters.

So if a Ukrainian guy managed to get to England without the right forms he'd be sent to Rwanda??

Pure dog whistle politics. Absolutely pointless, it won't deter people who are desperate enough to make the journey in the first place. And vastly expensive - as a reasonable comparison, the Australian system of housing asylum seekers on Nauru costs around AU$500million a year. That equates to AU$4.3million per refugee per year. That is quite the waste of money. In total the system has cost them AU$3billion.
