Few pints, couple of lines and the lads will be on edge to see if Auntie Marge’s antique cutlery is enough to get Barry from Daventry an extension, absolute scenes with drinks and limbs everywhere or heads in hands and bitter silence when it turns out she was just a bit of a liar and she bought it from Freemans catalogue in 1982.

Bookies will have a field day on the value estimates and, of course, the big one…. Whether the owner intends to sell the item after the appraisal.

Well, looking forward to 5am on Monday morning when the forecast lightning is still doing its thing and the players are sat in the dressing rooms having a nap.

Apparently it was going to upset the Mexican players’ naps if KO was pulled forward, but the above quite possible scenario is ok. Awesome.

I'm a civil servant in a small team of five. One is Welsh, lives in Cardiff (yes, the Civil Service isn't just in London you know) and doesn't care about football. Two are armchair football fans (one of which also lives in Cardiff), and will be working as usual, and me and another lad have booked the day off using annual leave (which has been planned as soon as the groups were drawn a few months ago). The question is, am I a traitor to the country, because I work for the Civil Service (scum that we are), or am I a proud patriot because I have used my precious annual leave to ensure I can watch my country in the World Cup, and not rip off my fellow citizens by pulling a sicky the next day?

A real dilemma.

Country is f****d anyway with or without you so don’t worry about it, I’m leaning towards a statue (albeit a small one) at the new stadium for you.

Got nothing to do with anyone else how and when you use your annual leave, enjoy your day off.
 
I’m pleased it’s staying at 1am. Ridiculous to fiddle around with a kick off time just because of a weather forecast - deal with it when it comes. Football is an outdoor sport, dealing with the elements is part and parcel of it. If the players get dragged off three or four times in the 90 minutes because of thunder then the team who copes best with the disruption deserves to go through. Everything from over their filters this way eventually and if it’d been moved, you wait, our officialdom (especially with our national team involved in an unprecedented occasion) would be all over it and we’ll soon have games over here chopping and changing based on a weather forecast.
 
Can see why the coaching staff didn’t want it changed, they plan for a certain time, but from a purely selfish point a view watching it at a reasonable time with a few beers as opposed to watching it sober while knowing Monday is going to be a long day only has one winner. If we win it will be worth it. Obviously it’s coming home so that’s guaranteed.
 
England will have to give the performance of their lives to see off Mexico in the Azteca whenever the kick-off is.
The physically punishing effects of altitude and a massive vociferous crowd and stifling heat makes this perhaps Englands greatest challenge.

Re two of your three points; surely England are used to large vociferous crowds and the forecast is for far from stifling heat. Hopefully, they will cope with the high altitude and, given that on paper we’re the stronger team, whilst not being complacent, we should pull off a win.

From what I have seen on Mexico so far, they haven't exactly been playing a high tempo game and taking advantage of the conditions and we should have a distinct advantage at set pieces. If any of wingers actually wake up and deliver (a big 'if', I know), I don't think either home full back is that strong.

I thought they did play quite a high-tempo game in the first half against Ecuador on Wednesday. I expect them to cause England’s defence some problems.
