Meetings

I see our self acclaimed 'custodian' is still trying his hardest to squeeze every penny he can out of us, meaning the fanzones have been cancelled. Quite right too that we cancel if he is trying to charge extortionate amounts. The sooner we are away from that dump and his stranglehold the better.

Well done @OUSP Secretary and the panel on a good job, hopefully the few on here that were so dismissive of the panel being set up can see its benefits now.

Go on then as you suggested it ....... what benefits? 🤷‍♀️

If "any other group" had enquired about a fan zone then FK would have said "It`s 20k (or any other unknown figure) - upfront". At which point many would walk away.

The Fanatic folk are doing the atmosphere legwork funded by the fanbase.

The Supporter Liaison Officer is doing his job, as is the StadCo, albeit with their usual reluctance.

The OUSP are having meetings...... and issuing minutes ..... and ....... generally being told what they won`t get.

Well you're are wrong on the 1st point, from the minutes:

"The fanzone planned for 5th March has been cancelled. The use of part of the car park
for the fanzone had been agreed with Stadco, and we were told to expect a similar fee
as charged for car boot sales. The club was then notified earlier this week that the
charge would be significantly higher for each of four fanzones planned for the year, and
that all four would have to be paid in advance of the first one taking place. This made
the project financially prohibitive.
OUSP and the club were deeply frustrated that the work which had gone into planning
the fanzone would not come to fruition. AT had booked a hog-roast and pizza, bar,
several games and children’s activities; OUSP was planning to launch the HGT
partnership with the women’s team at a meet and greet. All agreed that it is difficult for
the club community when events such as this cannot be held at our stadium."

This is like telling your friends someone is ugly right in front of said person. The OUSP Sec doesn’t have to come on here and answer our many questions and moans, but they do, and we should be grateful, not slag them off!

Sadly, it's in his nature and has been all along.

As we’ve always known Kassam/StadCo are no friends of OUFC.

However both Kassam and OUFC do have one thing in common. It is to the mutual benefit of both that Stratfield Brake gets the go ahead.

Frustrating though it is that the fanzone has been cancelled due to StadCo’s unrealistic demands, it shows to the wider Oxfordshire community another reason why the club needs to move. Kassam is quite happy with that.

I’m all for robust challenge and alternate views …but I don’t see the negative here. Think you’re overstepping the mark

If that’s how you perceive it then that’s fine they’re just writing minutes. It isn’t doing any harm so just move on. If they happen to create some positive then even better.

I’d lay the sword down now. Go find a new cause

It was a simple question in response to someone extolling the benefits.
Fanzone - cancelled due to unknown cost. Yep, get that- but with no meat on the bones how do we know it was "unaffordable"? Some folk might have chipped in to say Yuk Foo to FK?
Stadco - reluctantly doing what they are paid to do. Same as.
AT - SLO - also doing his job too, albeit with lots of nudging and memory lapses.
All of which happens with or without.....

too late now for fan zones this season.... but a bit of outside the box thinking perhaps could've borne fruit so to speak?

the reasonably sized grassed area at the top end of Knights road, with pathways leading to the steps/ ramp at the East stand end of North stand/ behind North stand, that grassed piece land is (City) Council owned ( presumably?)

City Council ( certainly pre lockdown) often allow a plethora of activities to take place on various City council-owned parks and recreation areas ( South Park, Bury Knowle Park, Cutteslowe Park, Florence Park and others)), fairs, festivals, displays etc
presumably, organisers of those events paid a hire fee (of sorts) to the city council? ( with needed funds going into council coffers)- very probably any fee charged would be a lot less than the stadium owning parasite was demanding?

A couple of marquees to house bars and the like on that piece of land, in the shadow of the breeze block, could've viably delivered a reasonable matchday fan zone .... couldn't it?

have the powers that be at OUFC considered the above as a possible matchday fan zone option @OUSP Secretary ?

Yeah, massive 'Yuk Foo' that!

"Alright then Mr Kassam, we will, pay the exorbitant fee you command! That will learn you!!"
What would be better f u is for fans to informally have a fan zone on the priory site. Free. No rules. Boom.

It would not only be entirely free from club involvement hence maintaining innocence but would also draw attention to his failure on that site were he to make an issue of it.

Farr's catering and the Blackbird could possibly apply for a joint outside licence and run the show ?

We had fan zones a few years back outside the quadrangle, I wonder what has changed apart from new club owners?
As mere speculation, perhaps Stadco sees a difference between renting out some car park for a boot sale that presumably is done and dusted in one morning, and a fan zone that perhaps requires more set up and use of space? Or did someone cost up a fanzone based on it being for instance 20% of the space of a boot sale, so 20% of the cost?
I suspect it's just Stadco being a PITA because they can, and see it as a threat to their own income streams or of their other tenants at the bowling alley etc.

As we don`t know "the cost" we are none the wiser.

Could have been £400 per event or could have been £4k. 🤷‍♀️

The former - pay it. The return on "feelgood" outweighs paying FK a couple of grand.

The latter - seek alternatives as highlighted by other people with vision on the thread... the kind of thing you would thing an organised group may do...
