we not been awarded a penalty in getting on for 2 seasons. Thing is, the law of averages( hopefully) sooner or ( preferably not) later ,does come into play and these kinda things, eventually, balance out. Its the hope that kills you
Nope we don’t get penalties because we don’t put the opposition in desperate positions often enough.

To be fair, Blackburn held out for managers who have saved teams from relegation, first with Rowett and then with O’Neill, who did a stunning job turning Stoke around in the year of Covid from looking doomed to comfortably mid table.

He will do that again, as will Rowett.

Ourselves and WBA took a slightly more nuanced approach, West Brom by appointing someone with zero experience of European football management and us with someone who got relegated literally last season with one of the promotion favourites, as he is class over a brew.

Anyone able to summarise Bloomfield job, style at Wycombe? Ignoring the reliance on Kone.

😢

Iam more concerned at the job he did at Luton he nearly kept them up but the job in league 1was not very impressive ,because that's where we are going without doubt. Can anyone see a style to our play ?

We’re going to need a fully professional preseason and recruitment strategy summer from the SMT, (unlike the last one), to give ourselves a chance for a promotion push out of League 1.

A fair few players are out of contract in the summer, the vast majority of current loan players won’t be with us next season, and players such as BDK and Currie will likely attract interest from Championship clubs.

Huge summer ahead.

Stylistically I’m not really bothered about what it looks like, if it keeps us up then we could play like Wimbledon for all I care. I said the same under Rowett.

I don’t think this season was a time to get precious over ‘styles’ or ‘Philosophies’ 🤮 as we were coming into the season as one of the smaller clubs in the division, with limited experience of the league.

Under Bloomfield so far, we’ve not had anything like an upturn in results and it wouldn’t be possible to say what the ‘style’ is that he prefers, either. I think it could be argued the first month/5 weeks of his tenure have been largely wasted. Time we didn’t have to play with and time that hasn’t yielded enough points. Worrying.

Try telling that to all those people who thought it was a great idea to sing ‘Gary Rowett, your football is s**t’!

If we don't start winning some games it doesn't really matter what other teams do and this year more teams are winning rather losing/drawing except for us and Wednesday to state the bleeding obvious.

Although his PPG this season with Luton was better than they've had since he was dismissed (even though oddly they are now two positions higher in the table than when he left).

I doubt they would have been singing it if they hadn’t heard Millwall or Birmingham fans singing it.
It became a bit of a meme, with us playing three of his old clubs in quite close succession.
I wasn’t that keen on his style but I was far more concerned about how poor his management was this season, both in terms of tactics and of motivation.

I was more concerned, and still am, about the management of those that managed him.

MB’s record at Luton this season was more or less on a par with Jack Wiltshire’s since he took over, so sacking him and changing manager hasn’t made any real difference in terms of points per game. There has been no real improvement to their season.

As for our style since he took over, have to agree I can’t see or define one in particular, which is a little worrying.

I don’t think whoever took over would keep us up however, that is down to repeated failed recruitment, especially the lack of any quality up front for far too long, and the rut we have been in, and very few managers would be able to save us with the squad quality we have.

Time will tell whether MB can turn things around, but I don’t think it will be this season, though we need to finish strongly and give ourselves optimism and confidence for next season.

Yes we had a league 1 squad up to January recruitment, but probably even now only top half squad ,will it be good enough next year time will tell ,we will definitely need a better front man. But Bloomfield always had a massive job trying to keep us up ,but sadly it's not been a great effort yet. And iam dreading today I think it could be tough

I’m as pleased as anyone but let’s see how we go! 2-1 against one of the worst teams we’ve seen at the Kassam, with two goals scored from set pieces, isn’t necessarily OUFC rising from the ashes.

He should enjoy his weekend! As should all the players. Another big one on Friday.

Who cares how we won !!!! 40 or 50 years ago no one gives a s**t whether you win by set pieces or a ten man move ….. it doesn’t matter one bit, we won, three points, job done and on to Preston. This absolutely can be Oxford United rising from the ashes ….. scrappy wins like that are the best feeling ever in football, you’ve won the war as well as the football match ! We can do this !

Sack him now!! He has put a wheel back onto the 'Positive Bus' without permission.
Not for me. Still an abysmal record and not a great performance. It’s not like it was a tactics masterclass, West Brom were truly awful!

Repeat it this week and I’ll start to think maybe he has something.

Can you give him until at least the games against Blackburn and Charlton at home? Then reassess?

What’s your point ? City and Arsenal are scrapping for the PL but I’ve lost count of how many absolute shite performances those two have served up this season. Masterclass might be over egging it but I disagree that this win wasn’t without some serious input from Bloomfield. We kept Albion at arms length and, considering how much possession they had, that’s not luck. While Bloomfield is yet to impose any real attacking threat I think we are looking pretty good defensively - always seen as the basis of a decent side. Credit where credits due, he got it spot on at Middlesbrough a week ago and again today.
