Not Football special related but
There are roadworks on Cowley Rd at the junction with Divinity Rd. Its a waterless so Thames Water obviously aren't treating is as a priority. So there have been long delays yesterday and today. So if you use that bus route it will be worth allowing extra time for the journey. Also the Manzil Way and stop next to the O2 are not being used.

Only planned roadworks on the National Highway website are at Milton interchange, which is closed and affects the OX2 route, which we have made an adjustment for.
The A34 will be closed southbound from the M40 to Peartree from 9pm, so won't cause us any problems.

2 pound cap for single bus fare pointless,if you've got multiple bus journeys. A all day ticket better for a fiver.
Oh & by the way a Oxfordshire all day ticket is going up to £8.50.
The £2 cap only good if you go direct a to b..
 
How many people take more than 4 bus journeys in Oxford on one day? I think they will have to drop the £8.50 all day ticket price.

The Bus company have Freeflow on their buses where you tap on and off and fare is capped. I'd suggest all the other bus companies in Oxfordshire introduce the the same setup so you can catch any bus anywhere within the county.

Lots ,I'm one for a start,as I said only works for direct route.problem with Oxford is the Town centre, pedestrianisation,splits the bus journeys up.
The best solution is if the busses could use the ring road , the problem would be mutch quicker & direct.

Mmmmmm of course you can, you swing in to the estates off the ring road, round & around both directions.a bit like the original no 10 bus did .pedestriatnation deffo made it worse.
You could get the bus from woodfarm to Wolvercote ,Barton to cultleslowe etc etc , before cornmarket &queen's Street became closed to buses.

But surely if it's coming off the ring road to swing into estates it will take just as long as going through town?

And what if you're at The Plain, or Morrell Avenue, or Temple Cowley?

though, if you are over a certain age, the free bus pass can be handy ( if youre not in any particular hurry)
 
I got the £5 day pass the other day for the first time as I wanted to go to town, Cowley Road, Botley, and Summertown and it was great - I’m looking forward to my free bus pass now

Check out this crazy bus route. Definitely the fastest way to the ground from town, it only takes 20 minutes as runs limited stop down the Abingdon Road and doesn't fart about in Littlemore.

Yes you maybe right ,but as I was saying can't go right through no more ,hence the 2 bus change from one side of the city to the other..
That's why the £2 pound cap means jack ,to half the journeys in & around Oxford/Oxfordshire.
Try getting a bus regularly, in rush hour congestion charge . Stuck in one traffic jam , get of walk to another bus stop ,get another bus & do the same again.
Busses will never work untill people get out of their cars, well I think everyone knows the answer to that one. Got more chance of leading the line for Oxford United 😉

How can I be a fan of the congestion charge,I don't drive.im a bus user & cyclist & I walk..
It's not faster ,only if your on a bus when your on one of the roads with the congestion charge.
If your not, your stuck on a bus with all the diverted traffic.
Then when you get to town you have to do the same again,trust me that's not fast.
Because of the charge everything starts an hour earlier to beat it .The school run seems to be starting at 2 half two now...

Yes the only way to reduce congestion in the city, on the ring road, on the A40, on the A34 is to provide cheap, reliable, public transport that doesn't stop at 7pm like many of the rural routes do. A family coming into Oxford from outside the city with the kids over the holiday will pay six or more times more to get the local bus from the local bus stop than they would driving to a P&R, down the A34, down the A40 etc. If the council's financial support was anywhere close to its rhetoric on the matter we might get somewhere. But as it clearly doesn't have the money it should put its political energies into lobbying government and shouting loudly to all and sundry about the lack of financial support rather than continually try to gaslight the community by pretending there is a cheap public transport alternative. Rant over.
