I thought it would have been a good chance for Lino to get some minutes on Saturday.
Maybe if Scarlett hadn't made it 4-2 with 20 to go, giving us a slight chance, he would have came on for the last 20?
I don't think Des would want to demoralise Lino with his first appearance being a heavy defeat.
As it seems unlikely we are going to have a stunning victory any time soon, I don't think Des will risk bringing a third / fourth choice attacker on if we need to defend a slender win or draw.

I really don't think he'd have been bothered, he'd just be happy to have got on and played.
I agree that it's unlikely he'll come on if we're not 3+ up or conversely 3 or more down with 20 or so to go.

Club not announced it yet and because it's not included in the FIFA calendar, we're not obliged to release him.

Be interesting to see if we let him go given Des' recent comments
I can't imagine we won't let him go, he's not exactly first name on the team sheet, is he?

Des has been an international manager - I'm sure he'll know what it means to him, and let him go.

We should absolutely let him go - match minutes, great experience and he’s not playing for us at present.

How much will it mean to him, though?

It's a tournament that's basically the equivalent of the old British Home Championship. Some proper rivalries and national pride at stake, I'm sure, but games against Laos and Myanmar are not going to help him career-wise as much as getting some minutes for us would. And he just might with the density of games in December and the FA Cup third round looming for a bit of rotation.

Disagree tonight shows Des isn't playing him. And if he goes away and scores 10 in 4 then pressur mounts on Des

Tonight shows that we played against a team that was far superior to ours.

Des will not be hampering in his own performance as manager by not play Ferdinan, if he though he was good enough and robust enough physically, he’d be playing him.

As far as I know, Southeast Asian competitions like the AFF are very intense. I hope he doesn't get injured and returns to club safely

The competition between Southeast Asian Nations getting hot now. In last few years Thailand and Vietnam dominated almost all football events in this area, then Indonesia back to regain the domination. Now...of course any nations in Southeast Asia that can beat Indonesia will gain more confident and prestige.

And we only send U22 team, not senior team like other competitors, senior team focus on WCQ Round 3 that still in progress.

And it's true that this tournament not in official FIFA's calendar, that's why Our FA now still lobbying many teams where our abroad players play.

IMO...calling Lino and some other young players that also part of senior teams are too risky. Competitors must be already have their data's for those players. Especially Lino, all of Southeast Asian's nations already familiar with him because he have face them in many level, from U-17 till senior team.

And his brace when meet Saudi Arabia have been make him into spotlight, they must be will watch and mark him very very tight. Possibilty for injuries become very high for him, he will receive many tackles.

To be honest, I am not too happy ( if Oxford agree to let him play in the tournament ) with his call this time. It only repeat what happen when he joined Belgium's league.....more busy playing for National team ( U23 and senior ) than playing for club. Not good for his recovery and his chances for blending with the club.

So let's see what will happen. Just don't want the chances that he already get in Oxford ( he already in bench for some matches ) turn into nothing again because his National team's activities. Just let him play for Senior National team and in official FIFA's calendar matches. The rest...let him grow and play for Oxford United.
