Mcguane tended to fade after the first 10 games regardless of who was in charge, happened the two seasons prior under Robinson. Remember seeing him at Bristol rovers and was our only good player under KR. But he could never consistently do it.

Huddersfield this year have done exactly what Rotherham did last year. Got their business done early and signed what, on paper, looks like a League One All-Stars XI.

But it went horribly wrong for Fatty Evans last season, so no guarantees that it'll work for the Terriers this. Significant risk that several of their signings are now past their peak.

Obviously sad news for him, but in response to your final point - for all his technical quality he had very limited ability to actually affect English professional football matches.

When he was first with us I thought he was fantastic and ran with the ball as easily as without it. But his second spell was quite mediocre

He was certainly a strange one in our promotion season. Under Manning he was probably our best player, but as soon as Manning deserted us and Buckingham came in he reverted to anonymous.

He genuinely looked premier league quality during that period. It's a shame we never saw anything close to that afterward and he went missing way too often.

Then he came back and was good at winning free kicks in our own half.

He scored that goal once.
