Sheffield United have/are making Wilders perennial assistant Alan Knill (remember when people used to say he was the reason for Wilders success?) redundant and want to repkace him with Phil Jones, apparently Wilders not happy, which does tend to end up in tears.

I have a slightly different perspective on these scenarios having been swindled in my own career - depends very much on whether he was approached or went for the job off his own back.

I had total job security and got headhunted to go and join an “exciting growth mission” somewhere. I realised on my first day that it wasn’t growth at all, it was salvage/rescue and my heart sank when I saw the culture.

Different circumstances here as Edwards knew exactly what he was walking in to, but given how far gone they were, there is no doubt in my mind Edwards would’ve sought assurances around relegation if he were to leave Boro.

He will be handsomely compensated but I think football fans immediately play the high horse loyalty card which isn’t always right.
