General Manager Sack Watch

Didn't realise Villa had played below the second division. I wonder how many clubs have never played below what is now the championship? Pretty exclusive club.

Man Utd, Everton, Liverpool, Arsenal, Newcastle, West Brom, Spurs (although they started in the Southern League and promoted to the FL), West Ham (Also started in Southern League), Middlesbrough (+ Northern League)

So, I make it 9.

West Brom have played in the third tier, early 90s, so that's 8. Did Spurs, West ham, and Boro come into the league before the existence of a third tier then?

Well spotted.

Middlesbrough joined the league in 1899, Spurs, 1908, and West Ham 1919. At those times there were only two Football League divisions before going regional.
Middlesbrough have twice played in the third tier. In the mid 60's and mid 80's (when they nearly went bust). Both times for one season only. Separate, but related, point- I think Arsenal is the only English club never relegated from the first tier.

Former U’s midfielder Paul Wotton sacked by Torquay.

Neil Warnock has been put in temporary charge.

Arsenal were relegated from the first division in 1913. They finished 5th (or 6th) in the second division in 1914-15, and when football restarted following the war in 1919 they were controversially promoted again and have not been relegated since, making them the longest-standing top flight team.

So they moved location, changed their name and never earned their spot in the league, MK Dons basically.

Promoted in place of Tottenham, weren't they?

Very good. I did not know that...I knew the moved north of the river but didn't know they had been relegated...

Has he had a good start there? I'm not sure. Also, being a manager will take up all of his time at the expense of his business interests. That said, I'd love him to become a manager and be successful.
Not a chance he'll go into management. He was captain on the pitch, but even then he never really came across as a leader. I don't see him having what it takes to become a manager. Plus, as you say, other businesses ventures.

Former Oxford player Lee Bradbury is replace with Andy Carroll at Dagenham

Used to work with someone called Lee Bradbury back in 2005, confused everyone in the work van when I asked why someone who plays for Oxford is now a carpenter too 🤦‍♂️. I am dumb always.

…thinking about it, this was in the deepest darkest Welsh valleys also.
