General Manager Sack Watch

It must be the only job in the world when you make money when getting the boot!, wrong job for him, it’s a bit of a shame that yet again the “biggest club” in the world cock it up again , who would want to go there to such a toxic place?

Go there, slag them off get sacked, get paid. Its not a bad job, you just have to start having a go at your bosses the moment you sign the contract to avoid being stuck there to long.

Unsurprising. Whether Ratcliffe & Co know what they're doing football wise is debateable but no manager is going to take them on and win - they're just too powerful.

Expect Emery to go there.
Emery would be an idiot to leave Villa right now and go to Man United. At this moment in time it is a backwards step. Man U are a mess of a club.

They're just a pound shop version of Watford.

Not sure Maresca would have any joy at Man U, surely he'd have the same problem - balance of power and responsibility - that he had at Chelsea?

Wonder where Bloomfield and Sheehan are in the odds for the ManU and Chelsea jobs
I see Rooney is 40-1 for ManU…I’m surprised Fergie isn’t named caretaker for the season as he’s pulled the strings for years

Would he be an idiot though ? The ceiling at Manchester United is miles higher, another level. Another level in what they can achieve and certainly another level in what they can spend. Villa are doing well, a smaller plucky club but how far can they realistically go ? Arsenal haven't won anything in donkeys years and spanked Villa 4-0 over Christmas. In the back of Emery's mind will be the usual nagging thought I guess anyone who's offered that gig will have - will I get offered it again ? Probably not, that's the dilemma.

Villa are a small plucky club? I’m not sure Villa’s staff have to bring in their own packed lunch.

I’d love Villa to win the league and rub Arsenals noses in it, after they sacked him all those years ago. He might just come back as a small plucky club to do just that. It’d be a refreshing change from the usual lineout. It’d be great to see a smallish club, Brentford qualify for the champions league too.
The hope is what keeps supporters going.
With any luck Manchester United will carry on drifting like they have the last few years.

Carrick until end of season then the Palace man in summer

Darren Ferguson to keep them up and continue the dynasty

It will likely be offered again within 18 months, so Emery doesn’t need to make that MASSIVE step up (checks table) from 3rd to 6th just yet.

Maybe the attitude that Villa are a small plucky club, the arrogance, is the problem that runs through Man U? It was reflected in their players calling David Moyes and his staff "Everton" as some sort of insult when he took over, imagine having players so indoctrinated that they can't see the idiocy in struggling with having one Scottish manager who came from Aberdeen being replaced by another who came from Everton?

They have only had two successful spells under two managers since WW2, essentially the clubs whole myth is based around Busby and Ferguson, been pretty average for the rest of their history.
