General Manager Sack Watch

Des is currently 3/1 favourite.

3/1 is a pretty long price for a favourite in these markets. I wouldn’t be surprised if they took on an interim manager until the end of the season as there is less than a third of the season left. Wouldn’t be at all surprised if they brought in ex Wales manager Rob Page until the end of the season to work with Alan Sheehan the head coach and put Joe Allen into a coaching role somewhere to create a succession plan. At 20/1 the value is Rob Page.

Statistics say there in no such thing as the new-manager bounce. However, if you throw GR's MOTM award into the mix... I can see how a superstitious person may have a bad feeling about this.

Sure I read that it's generally accepted that there's more often than not an upturn, but not significant enough to be separated from regression to the mean.

Or I dreamed that.

(I have really dull dreams)

Does that mean Des is coming back?
I reckon MK would be a good fit for him. Local and a big challenge worth dropping a couple of divisions for

Gillingham look set to appoint…. Gareth Ainsworth from Shrewsbury Town.
From the outside looking in, Gillingham seem to be owned by a Yank who has no clue what he is doing, so for Ainsworth to leave a club for them says a hell of a lot about the state Shrewsbury are in.

Football history is littered with managers that did a really good job at one club, but couldn't make it work anywhere else - John Coleman, Keith Hill, Mike Walker etc. etc.

Looks like Ainsworth might be one of those. His record away from Wycombe is at Rix/Wright/Talbot/Kemp levels!
He’s basically Graham Westley, who had a similar record
