General Manager Sack Watch

Or we could just focus on our own game?

We’re solid under Rowett. A few pieces of the jigsaw are missing and we have weak spots but overall we’re competitive and have proven we can find avenues to win or at least not lose.

I don’t think we need to worry about ‘new managerial bounces’ and the like.
I’d still rather derby didn’t have a new guy in place till Saturday!

Am I missing something? Why would he leave a Blackburn side that have a realistic prospect of playoffs to go to a Derby side looking increasingly likely to be in league one next year?
Blackburn are 18th in the form table having won 2 and lost 4 of their last 6 games. I can't see them making the play offs and the fans still have massive issues with the owners.

As long as they can stay up then I would suggest Derby is a more secure, progressive job than Blackburn. Also he is from the midlands so can move closer to home if he wishes.

Eustace was asked on the radio about the reported links with Derby after Blackburn's FA Cup game today. He didn't take the easy route and say he wasn't interested. Every chance he will go to Derby from what he didn't say.

He was very honest in the interview, something Liam Manning could learn from when a club approaches you about a job.

If Blackburn did go up, doubt it but for the sake of argument, how long would he last before he gets sacked with them getting smashed every week? Nice to have the promotion on your cv but he won’t make Xmas of next season. So I can see why a well paid job building Derby up might appeal.

Being closer to home is a decent excuse and if you are commuting/staying away from home that M6 is a bastard. But as you say fans have issues with the owners. Maybe he can see the writing on the wall too and fancies his chances at keeping Derby up at the expense of one or two others.

Blackburn sold Szmodics for about £10m or so but didn’t exactly spend a lot of that money. He has done really well there with his bargain buys, loans and free signings but some of them are in their 30’s and next season he might have to do it all over again. He was absolutely s**t on by Birmingham and has proven himself since. Like GR for us he will keep them up.

Cambridge Utd have parted company with head coach Garry Monk.
That’s a shame for him. He did well at Swansea and has struggled since
But surely his success at Swansea was entirely down to having his assistant (Pep Clotet) manage the squad while he just fronted the media?

Crazy, Crazy. - huge amounts in pay-offs.

I'm sure the contracts are built with short tenures in mind with all sorts of clauses.

Be successful, a "bigger" club snaps you up. Be unsuccessful, P45.

There's only two managers who have been in charge of a Championship club for more than 18 months (I'm excluding Mous with Pompey being League One last season).
