Ex-Staff Malcolm Elias

Have I imagined this, but was there something about Malcolm Elias leaving Oxford United and taking with him a huge spreadsheet of all the most promising youngsters in Oxfordshire, who were promptly hoovered up by Southampton? RIP though Malcolm, hugely influential by the sounds of it!

I have vague memories of it. I think that Sean Rudd and Dexter Blackstock moved to Southampton in the year or 2 after he took up the job there. Although, Blackstock was hardly unknown considering he had been around our 1st team (and we ultimately did well financially from his transfer iirc).
 
Played against Peers in an Oxfordshire Schools Cup Final years ago (u.18's, I think). He kept shouting at his winger to run at me as I was 'a weak link'. He wasn't wrong. Met him years later and reminded him. Seemed a nice chap. RIP.
 
Wonderful podcast from the Behind The Badge guys with Malcolm a couple of years back. Really interesting man, and seemed an all-round lovely fella. RIP.
 
The family of Malcolm Elias have requested a fund raiser to be set up in his memory.
The money will be going towards the village Cricket club’s new pavilion.
