General Mackie

I think it’s quite clear that KR has the exact same opinion as us fans about Mackie. Indeed he is no fool.
The problem is the club failed to sign a striker, which KR definitely wanted and I’m sure his rant at the directors box and subsequent 1-2-1 with one of the directors was mainly about.

"It's quite clear that KR has the exact same opinion as us fans..."

Why is this clear? Do you really think that Robinson (who is no fool) would continue to play someone he doesn't rate?

"His rant at the directors box..."

Sadly, it wasn't anything to do with the directors box but abuse coming from elsewhere in the SSU that he responded to.

"... subsequent 1-2-1 with one of the directors..."

Robinson had a passionate conversation with Zaki in which he retold the above events. He wasn't having a go at Zaki or the board and Zaki gave him a hug at the end.

But beyond these few errors that's a really good post!

Agyei had already played 50-odd L1 games across three loan spells (Walsall, Coventry and Blackpool) before he came here. At 22 he’s older than Brannagan and Dickie were when they arrived and started playing regularly here, in this same division, and they both had less games and far less EFL experience when they signed. Brannagan had a brief loan spell at Fleetwood where he was mostly on the bench and made around a dozen appearances all in, and Dickie spent a season in the Conference with Cheltenham. Dickie had also been on loan at Lincoln in L2 before he joined us in January but he’d lost his place in their starting lineup for a month or so by that point. Agyei also came from a Premier League club where he’d made several sub appearances and been in the match day squad multiple times more, and their fans were largely shocked that he didn’t sign a new deal in the summer.

This narrative that Agyei is some sort of untested child who needs to build up to this division is utter, utter nonsense. Just look at the facts of everything above. He’s played more games in League One and is more than a year older than Shandon Baptiste, for crying out loud. He’s more than six months older than Mark Sykes, with more than double the L1 appearances under his belt, and has been a full time footballer for nearly five years rather than Sykes’ 12 months.

I’m not saying Agyei is the messiah any more than I’m saying he definitely isn’t, but this yarn that seems to have been spun about him being some sort of total novice is factually untrue. Quite why that’s coming out of the club when it’s factually inaccurate is beyond me. It’s disingenuous.
His strike rate at League One level is one goal in every 5 games (on a statistically valid sample size) and given his age and the decent team he should be playing in, he's likely to improve on that. How does that compare to Mackie's strike rate?

I also saw him win a header on Tuesday when he came on rather than just try and hold the defender's a**e on the blind side of the ref and foul him.

As usual you’re 100% correct and everyone else is wrong.

It was radio Oxford who said it was KR having a go at the directors box. Also that the subsequent bust up was quite heated but yup ended with a hug. As you know better than them, er who were right next to it.

As for his opinion about Mackie in a very tactful way KR said “we all know his limitations “ when speaking on Radio Oxford about Mackie. He added about the many other things he brings to the team. Blimey you even know more than KR about KR!

He basically has no other option with one striker injured and one not ready Mackie is all we have. Except for Browne out of position.

Do you think IF we’d have signed a quality, fit striker who KR felt was going to do the business Mackie would be in the side? No neither do we.

still all think long and Mackie are great players come on get real people simply not good enough, long has cost us big time with his lack of quality across the park. Last night again proved Mackie is not upto it Agjei has scored as many as Mackie and played how many minutes?

Are you for real? Or are you expecting a woosh?

Mackie didn’t play because he had a family bereavement, don’t matter what yours or anybody’s views are about Mackie, there is no need for this as this mans family are having a sad time to deal with.

family bereavement has nothing to do with his football so why bring that up? I didn't..........

No, but you said that last night proved he wasn't good enough. Which is a dumb thing to say when he was 150 miles away at the time!!!

its not dumb niall McWilliams is it? when agjei has shown in very brief stints on the pitch he knows where the back of the net is and has matched his strike tally for the season.
