General Mackie

Saw this on the OUFC fans Facebook page and thought it too good not to post. (Apologies if I missed someone else posting it)View attachment 2642

Foolishly thought Mackie was a nice guy and professional. If this turns out to be true he should be fined if not pulled out of the squad. No place for that behaviour with what the club are trying to build.

Wasn't aware until mentioned on RadOx that he had played for the old Wimbledon, can't be many (if any) others that did and who are still playing?

Jobi McAnuff the only one I can think of from the top of my head. With Orient in League Two at the moment, though more of a coach than a player.

EDIT: Dean Lewington , didn't think he stretched back so far as to be pre-MK. Also Jason Puncheon, now in the Cypriot league after playing in the Premier League up until last season.

He played for both - the old Wimbledon as an upcoming young player, then MK when they moved. Wimbledon fans gave him a bit of stick about it yesterday but on their forum it’s recognised that he’s been supportive of the original club.

Once or twice a year I go and have a look at the Wimbledon forum after we've played them. Every time, I am taken straight back about 20 years to what the internet used to be like. Amazing that they haven't updated it!

The software update is provided by a Buckinghamshire based company so they refuse to engage.

Just interested to see if Essex yellow, scotch egg and wutang still stand by there praise for Jamie mackie.......they love the shithousery apparently! I've stated previously how terrible he is at football yet he gets great aplause for rolling around on the ground and committing stupid fouls. Never scores never gets any assists creates sod all zero goal threat yet he never stops running great player I pray he never plays for us again.

I stand by praise for Mackie. He wasn't great yesterday but not many were yesterday. Are you suggesting Simon Eastwood should be binned off as he was awful yesterday?

No Eastwoods a good player and has been for us over the course of sometime he usually does what he is supposed to. Mackie was useless yesterday and has been all season.

Yawn!!!

A chip on my shoulder about mackie hmmmm okay, I'd say it was the other way around. What has he done in a yellows shirt ever positive football wise?

Scored against Bradford that changed to course of our season last year.

Likewise has led the forward line in plenty of games when we were flying this season such as West Ham.

But when they don't want to see, they will ignore such things.
On that basis, we should get Pat Hoban back. He led the line better than Mackie, also tried really hard, also ran around a lot, and also rarely scored

i would also add a certain striker committed a fair number of fouls 2nd half

also when JR's effort went over the bar in the first half how was he able to find the space?

Ive been somewhat scathing of Mackie on the matchday thread - tbh something im not hugely proud of, but, for me, he looks like a player whos slightly past his best trying to play a role hes not the best suited for, which leads to him giving away a lot of unnecessary fouls and providing little goal threat. Yes hes had good days for us and everybody loves his wholeheartedness but would he get into Rotherham, Ipswich or Sunderlands team as centre-forward? I agree he brings so many good things, such as personality, experience, positivity and motivation for the younger players etc, but is that enough for a team who wants to challenge at the top of league 1? Hes great to have around the squad but was he really the best choice to start in a top of the table ‘6 pointer’ clash?

Mackie was awful yesterday but not the only one, I do think we need a lot better than him to gain promotion though, at the end of the day his job is to score goals and unfortunately doesn,t score enough and never really looks like doing so, imagine if we had vassel up front yesterday.
