£173k owed to Sol for 9 months work - suggests not a lot of sense in contracts for such a small club.

So that'll be the Conference running one less unless the FA/NL give 1 of the relegated sides a last minute reprieve and run both NL regional leagues short.

Very sad but this winding up petition was first raised in Jan 2019 and seemingly the current owner hasn't got very far with either paying the debts or selling the club.

You have to wonder what tales have been told to Tim Flowers (appointed on 28th August), Danny Whitaker (came out of retirement yesterday to sign a playing contract) and the 8 players they've signed this summer.

Southend case heard. According to their forum where somebody watched the proceedings on Skype; they have made a part payment to HMRC with the old tax debt now £493,991 (this doesn't include any of the VAT/Income Tax that has been deferred since Covid kicked in). There is an adjournment for the remaining debt until 28th October which leaves them still under a transfer embargo. The Southend fans think they are very likely to go down as they've sold their better players* and what is left is a bit rubbish and this adjournment takes them past the transfer deadline so strengthening will be difficult.

This was Southend's 4th hearing which is more than Macclesfield got I think. So Southend may need to pay up or they could be next.

*They still have Charlie Kelman but it is very possible that he will leave to fund the paying off the debt.
