Liverpool Council to give Everton a loan for new stadium..

The mayor of Liverpool is a big Everton fan so probably had a word in the ear of the Liverpool councillors. Obviously though it would all be above board as he likes to make sure there is no under hand dealings in football.

After all he is suggesting there has been a crime committed with the Barkley transfer.

Not bitter at all. I'm surprised he hasn't accused Nike or Barcelona of illegal tapping up over the Coutinho deal. After all he wouldn't want to be seen as bias towards Everton...

I think unfortunately Everton are just a far more reliable bet for lending money to than OUFC are, which is going to be the key issue when you're talking about lending public money.

Whether they should be doing it in the first place is another issue of course.

Assuming the loans actually pay back as claimed in that article they could really do with that revenue:

Also the money they are lending will come from capital so won't affect revenue spending.

That said it doesn't look good by the Mayor, unless there are also genuine redevelopment hopes for the surrounding area around the new proposed stadium. Especially when considered alongside his response to the Ross Barkley transfer.

Not pointless, there are some that think a local council should step up and support sport in its local area, financially not just kind words.

We will never get any help from OCC as long as mr Price is about
Bob Price 'retires'/ steps down in February ..... which is only a few days away

Bob Price Oxford City Council and Ian Hudspeth Oxford County Council were both guest speakers at the recent Oxvox members meeting, and both took questions on the stadium too

Minutes from that oxvox members meeting should be out soonish
