Ex-Staff Liam Manning

After what him and his family have been through I wish them well. Didn't work out at Norwich but this is a fresh chance for him and a decent size club in that league. He probably needs to do well there otherwise it's going to be right back to the drawing board for him and starting again at a small club in L2.

Nah, can't see him wanting to go to Swindon

Huddersfield are the leading scorers in League One, but their defense has been the worst in the top half.

If their plan is to tighten up and generally play some more pragmatic football, there's definitely worse choices they could have made than Manning.

Pressure ought to be high though - with the squad they've put together there, and the money they've spent (for the third tier), they really shouldn't be languishing behind Lincoln, Bradford and Stockport!

You can see him getting them into the play offs, then given his 0-2 record in the play offs it gets interesting, is his management style an impediment in that format or has it just not gone right on the day? A third play off loss out of three would leave him open to questions about that.

Huddersfield have probably the second strongest team on paper in that league and their fans are probably the most demanding and sour of the lot. Could get very ugly if they fail to the very least to reach the playoff final. This is also the weakest League One campaign for over 20 years so there's really no excuse. They've also lost more games this season than a team currently in 18th and even more than Reading. This could make or break Liam Manning in reputational terms for years to come. Once again he's landed on his feet so it'll be interesting to see how he does.

I think he'll do well there.
I wouldn't of minded him coming back to the U's. With obvious guarantees though.

Still amazed they sacked. Grant.
The journeyman continues his journey at this rate his managerial career with have more clubs than Jefferson Louis

Got to say, for someone so focussed on behaviours his sides don't 'alf rack up the red cards.

We finished with nine men twice under him if I recall. Bristol City ended with nine against us last season.

Not even two full games into his Huddersfield tenure and two reds already.
His team's also seem to score more than their fair share of low xG chances (or 'worldies', as they are otherwise known).

Manning comes in - two games, two red cards, two 1-0 wins.

Seems about right. He'll get them comfortably into the playoffs, but will need Lincoln to implode now to reach the automatics.

But it probably won't be thrilling watching for the Huddersfield fans.
Most fans are happy to watch their team win two out of three, even if 1-0. I know that I would be.
