Were these rumours prior to season tickets coming on sale?

And if so, did you believe said rumours on the basis of the quality of your source?

PRB - talks utter rubbish. Very disingenuous comments about fans today. I remember when he was on radio Ox saying “if fans aren’t happy, than stay away. We don’t want you here” Probably best he doesn’t repeat that, I think a lot will. The only real thing he’s worried about is his gravy train coming to an end.

He’s blinded by the club. I’m not sure he should be on Radio Oxford as he cannot really openly speak poor about the club, even if he to.

100 percent. Anyone who's met him knows how much he loves the club and it's basically his life. His passion can result in a number of silly comments though "players were too hot today" or whatever it was for example.

Everyone saying they would buy a season ticket no matter what the situation is missing the point as to the claim why fans have been conned.

Season ticket renewals and later on when the rest went on general sale the club said we would be ultra competitive to try and be successful on the pitch. Embargo hits and the club knew well before they told us about it as rumours were circulating well in advance . They put out a pathetic statement saying don't worry we will be out of it by
January where we will go hard in that transfer window. They have been silent since and haven't spoke to the media once only 2 fan groups.

The owners / board need lessons on how to communicate with their customers !

I renewed my season ticket on the first day renewals went active. The rumours of an embargo came much later when we were linked with players but had not announced a signing.

My source states that the efl notified the club well in advance of the embargo being official. The board were expecting the owner / share holders to add the required funds to avoid the embargo going ahead.

On WATG he said something along the lines of some of our players seemed to be struggling with the heat, as well as Orient's players. Sounded fair to me. I was boiling my a**e off just sitting in it.

You can't just release statements on rumours. You have to wait for official statements. The official statement came out after season tickets went on sale. It's not a conspiracy, it's coincidental timing.

I find it very depressing that some fans would have not financially supported the club when it matters the most

What worries me was that our midfield was weak and we didn’t seem particularly up for it, on the new managers first game. Defence was solid enough until the last few minutes and the starting wingers looked useful but I’ve still not seen McDonnell do anything that warrants a transfer fee.

I pay over £1,000 a year for my family so it's not cheap and you trust the club to do things by the book at the very least so it was an appalling shock when our embargo was confirmed. I think many heard it on here first, two weeks before it happened. I didn't want to believe it but the way the administration was being ran, and the amount of money down the drain, it made it credible and almost unforgivable.

The only way fans wont feel 'conned' is if we get the stadium going and we get out of this mess in January. The latter will involve regular and honest communication from the club with all the fan groups heavily involved. I just can't see this happening just yet and Tim Williams can't even seem to be located. This season could get very ugly on and off the pitch if things aren't handled correctly.

Prices were announced on the 18th May
The efl announced the new scmp rules on 15th May

That was a very poor game of football. We were red hot in first 10; then their athletic midfielders targeted Brannagan and Goodhram and we became disjointed and also static. We lost a lot of second ball today, dare I say we missed Vaulks?

Our midfield was the weak link today against very average opponents. Pull your socks up Cameron!

Best player was Brown followed by Dembele.

Pre season friendly vibe still however; so the real pressure starts next Saturday.

Fans kept the faith pretty well, which was pleasing. I hate to think how many of our directors were in attendance - probably as many as our goal tally.

“An extremely competitive squad” is not the same thing as saying “we will be ultra competitive in the transfer market”. One is an assessment of the squad already under contract, the other is a claim about future recruitment.
Likewise, saying the club expects to be “in a strong position ahead of the January transfer window” does not mean “we’re going to go hard in January”. It means exactly what it says, that they expect to be in a strong position by then. You’re adding the bit about signing players yourself and then treating your interpretation as though the club said it.
And Tim and Grant saying the ambition is to come straight back up? Of course it is. What exactly would you expect them to say after relegation, “we’re aiming for 14th”?
There are perfectly legitimate criticisms to make about the club’s communication and the embargo. I’ve made some myself. But if we’re going to accuse the club of conning supporters, the standard of evidence surely has to be a bit higher than taking one sentence, adding your own interpretation to it and then claiming that was what supporters were promised.
Criticise what they actually said. Don’t upgrade “strong position” into “we’re signing players in January” just because it makes the argument sound better.

This will still hold some marginal merit assuming we don't sell Mills and BDK. If we offload those then the statement will lose all meaning and I wouldn't trust anything good to happen in January. I do think we can compete to a degree in this league with the squad we currently have as there are some fairly weak opposition, however this will rely heavily on not getting injuries, players suspended or loss of form/player confidence. I'm hoping the squad will really band together and fight for everything.

That’s still you putting words into the statement.
Being “in a strong position ahead of the January transfer window” can mean being compliant, financially stable and actually able to operate normally again. It does not automatically mean “we’re going to bolster the squad considerably”. That extra bit is entirely yours.
There’s a huge difference between saying:
“We expect to be in a strong position by January”
and:
“We intend to spend heavily and considerably strengthen the squad in January.”
The club said the first. You’ve decided it meant the second.
