Ex-Player Thread Lets scour the internet for great oxford goals...

This came up on my YouTube home page earlier:

I couldn't remember the goal but could remember the chance right at the end. No idea why that is the case!
I can't even remember playing Sheffield Wednesday in the cup in that decade, yet can remember playing them in 1984 clearly. We lost 3-0, and have even found a clip of it...

Memory is such an odd thing.

memory of that ^^ particular cup game include Maxwell hiking the ticket prices and the Wednesday fans responding with a sizable banner proclaiming 'Maxwell= Ticket Tout' (or very similar wording) when the teams came out onto the pitch ..... they had a point!

And to think we moaned like hell a few years later when Aldershot did the same to us...

1992/93 season review. Only has around 80 views so don’t think many would have seen it.

I’m only 12 minutes in and enjoying it. Dave Penney looks the star of the season at this point. Looking back he was definitely underrated, I could certainly remember the chip against Cambridge and the late equaliser at Swindon, which I just watched.

Funny watching that with modern football in mind as plenty of challenges there would now have players rolling around claiming injury/fouls/red or yellow cards. For example, Johnny Lager got headbutted and rather than go down, he got indignant!

.... if memory serves, he also got even ;)

Must have been later as it only showed him shoving the bloke away on the highlights but I don't doubt it with Johnny Lager. I remember him checking none of the officials were looking and when he saw they weren't, he punched a player who had been kicking him all game.

Totally agree. I will watch the rest later but that tackle from Paul Raynor (surprise surprise) on Magilton was filth, and only Magilton saw red for his reaction!

Could some youngster who is more imterweb-savvy than I please find the highlights of the 4-3 win at Torquay?
3rd January 2011. Jack Midson's finest hour, Easty on the bench.

Can't find this - but remember Steve McLean standing on the ball, putting his hands above his eyes like a visor as if looking round for a pass. Moment of arrogance that was great to watch.

You're right, Sarge...I was pretty much in line with the player who was offside, and he was a couple of yards off. Our name was on the cup that year, until we got crap linesmen.

Strange to see the Lon
That would have been called off now because of those pitch conditions.
Strange to see the London Road End without the roof. There also seemed to be a temporary roof over part of the Beech Road terrace?
