Ex-Player Kyle Edwards

I agree with you to an extent, but imagine spending your whole life developing into a professional footballer only for that to be taken away from you with persistent injuries and then having it joked about.

I’m usually anti snowflake but football injuries can be career ending and I don’t find it to be a joking matter in all honesty

Comes with the good wages and short working hours, being injured isn't that bad for a footballer, they still get paid even if they can't do the job and they don't have to limp around in pain for a full shift to make sure they do get paid, probably insured as well. I had to change career because of an injury, not just something that effects footballers.

He has hardly been ripped to pieces about it, a few jokes about him being injured a lot on an obscure internet forum are getting blown out of proportion.

You really would hope that before we do anything at all with Edwards (play him, sign him up, let him go) he will have had a really (and I mean *really*) thorough medical assessment. There is no point playing him even as a sub if he isn't fully better (for his sake or ours) and unless that assessment has shown that there is no underlying problem that means another injury is probable (his hamstring injuries seem to be recurring) then there is little point in signing him up for the rest of the season. I still think the 'if we can get him fit he will be one of the best in the league' narrative so beloved of Karl Robinson is one of the worst reasons to sign a player!
Well yes. Not sure that anybody would disagree with that.
The club seem to pay large amounts on a sports science and medical team.
My assumption is that they are competent and do take care of the player.
If this is wrong and they are incompetent, don't care about the player, then this is very worrying ( and Des/ the set up is presumably different than under KR).

So on the basis that it is a medical decision that he should be fine to play ( and I assume that just because the medical advice is that he should be fit, doesn't mean that he will not get another injury), then I am hoping that he plays and plays well.

And yet on the other thread you were literally calling for someone's career to be ended.

I'm a total snowflake but it has just been some mild and predictable humour, you wouldn't expect that the players actually read this stuff.

Mad dog has posted about te rough time he had with injuries and the unsympathetic treatment he had from his employer. Hope colleagues were more welcoming.

As for the remarks about Murphy “looking uninterested” that’s entirely subjective. What we do know is that Liam Mannhng refused to pick the player who many pundits were describing as the best In league one

Kyle you’re a hell of a player. You’ve had rotten luck with injuries all the best for your return to the squad. Help us stay in the Championship

Couldn't agree more.

But a bit of humour along the way is ok as well.

My opinion is Edwards is one of the most exciting, dangerous and classy players we've had for years. Yes he's had an injury prone career.

If he can stay injury free and match ready, he will get us more points, no two ways about it.

How many good games had he had? I get that he has been injured most of his time but to me from the bits I have seen he comes across as a typical winger, exciting but inconsistent, for instance he was good against Luton but ineffectual against Pompey. His, very brief, stats back that up throughout his career.

I hope he comes good but I think people would do well to temper their expectations a little bit, his injury prone body might not be able to carry them.

Whilst on the "topic" of long term injuries, what has happened to Marcus Browne? No club at present? Could possibly be on a "paid per game " basis. Too good to be out of the game for so long.........is there a deeper underlying injury problem?

I called for someone to be sacked after a monumental f**k up which has drastically negatively impacted the club's relationship to the fans. I want the best for OUFC and hate to see the fans being put last due to certain individuals at the club. I 'literally' didn't call for their career to be ended but they can gladly go elsewhere.

Who has called for Edwards career to be ended?

Poor sod - I know he struggled to get and stay fit, but he doesn't deserve that. :ROFLMAO:
