Ex-Staff Karl Robinson

We had won our last five league fixtures (with the last one being the 3-2 win at Shrewsbury after being 0-2 down).

No one will really know how it would have panned out in the nine remaining games but momentum was with us.

Average attendance for that season (prior to the COVID stoppage) was only 7,460. It makes you realise the strides we've made in recent years with the numbers through the gates.

Just think, we could have lifted a trophy after beating Bolton in May... Just imagine what that could have been like
:ROFLMAO:

Who knows? As @holdsteady says, we were always streaky under Robbo - superb runs and terrible ones back-to-back. One thing is for sure, and that is that Wycombe would have been nowhere near promotion - they were dropping like a stone after a fast start, and snuck into the play-offs on dubious calculations despite sitting 8th. Having said that, although that Wembley final was painful, in hindsight I'm glad it was them not us that had a Championship season with no crowds. We've been able to experience it again properly, which they never have (bless 'em).

A very enjoyable listen. As others have said, he comes across a great bloke but also partial to some dodgy versions of the truth.

It’s nice to hear he’s in a good place now. It’s easy to forget some of those great cup nights and league wins we had under him.

I’ve not thought much about that Wycombe final for a few a years now, but it really was a sliding doors moment.

The Matty Taylor departure story was bizarre, the club basically let him go while KR was having a shower after rejecting two offers?!

Others comments have been mentioned, but a lesser one was his comment that “still to this day nobody knows what happened against Bradford.” Eh? I’m pretty sure we knew at the time they were appealing that our goal kick that started the move had been received by a player inside our own box (against the rules at the time). Not sure it’s every been a mystery for longer than the five minutes after it happened?!

Anyway, a really good interview. Nice one to the guys for getting it.

Im enjoying listening to Karl on RadOx tonight before the game. He’s clearly still invested in how OUFC do and probably regrets what happened.

Mentioned Jim Smith and how he sought him out to help him with understanding the area.

I don’t, like others, think he’s a bad bloke to be honest. A big shame how it ended; but he did give us a few seasons of very attractive football and some good moments in the process.

He’s on the comms team for the match - let’s see how that goes!

Just tuned in, was wondering who it was for a few seconds.

He does like to stroke his ego frequently, but he is a great listen and you can feel he still cares about the club which I respect about him to be honest.
He sounds like the Robbo we had when we were at our best in league 1. He is clear with what he wants from a team and calls a spade a spade.

Definitely a trip to spec savers, with I trouble in the morning,

Such an honest man..

Honestly the fickleness of some people. Few nice words on a radio and he’s the second coming.
Listen to behind the badge podcast with him. He does hold the club in high regard and admits to his faults too.

Actions speak louder than cheap words.

Few buzz words and people think his conduct the last 12 months at Oxford was acceptable. It was miles off it and the only reason he got away with it is because we have a p**s poor SMT.
