Kane Hemmings

Hemmings was given chances in league 1 after we paid a big fee.
MAPP thought that he wasnt good enough. I saw enough of him to not be impresssed.
League 2 is maybe his level. Mansfield seem to have dropped their interest?

But were we playing to his strengths, ie getting balls into the box early? He was never going to hold the ball up or beat people in the air.

When we got the early ball into the box, he/we prospered! Think it was Rotherham away in the cup when Johnson bent the ball into the back post and he scored.

Hemmings will score goals in league one in a 4-4-2 with two wingers supplying crosses

He can’t play as a one on his own and he struggled in a front 3

I have absolute no idea why Appleton signed him
Absolutely this, he proved in scottish premier he was decent enough the MAPP played in in a completly different formation. I said in that season it was career suicide for him to stay here after seeing how he was played, and i thought it was wron of appleton to ask him to play that way when he signed him. Anyway good luck Kane!

Rumoured to be a 6 figure sum. Never played to his strengths here and with Stead and the investment at Notts County he/they will do well.

Pints are on DE tonight!

Depends if Hemmings can get in ahead of Kristian Dennis. Or whether Hemmings and Dennis are the starting pair.

Edit: Good luck to him, best for all parties.

The right move for club and player. Good to see we got some money out of the deal and a decent wage away from the club.

There was a moment at 2-1 down in the Final against Coventry where Hemmings was pretty much clean through. He didn't seem to have the pace, strength, guile or whatever to make the most of that chance. For me, that was the moment that said we need a better front man if we are to progress.

I think he'll do really well in a Notts County side that I expect to go up via the autos. Whether he can push on to higher league one quality will be the big question.

He really wasn't good enough for us, so no surprise he's moved on. Has to be said, this was one that Appleton definitely got wrong.

I had a quick look at Mansfield's forum at lunch and there's some very funny comments on there. They seem to think he was on £6-8k here, which is hilarious. Try £2-£2.5k and you're probably closer to the truth.

There also seems to be mixed opinions about him amongst their fans. I don't think it's a certainty that he'll score bucket loads at County, as some seem to be predicting.

All that said, I obviously wish him luck with the rest of his career.

It's funny that people always trot that out. When I was 27 I wasn't desperate to be at home the whole time! Much as I missed my mum's Sunday dinners.
Everyone is different. At 27 some people are married with kids so want to be closer to grandparents or other family.

I was surprised he was loaned out last season as he seemed to have better pre-seasons than Thomas and Obika. That said, an overhaul is needed up front anyway, and while I'd have liked to give him a chance, to get money for a player that hasn't really proven himself to be essential here with maybe a year left (?) on his deal is alright business.

I'm sorry that hasn't worked out for Hemmings at OUFC. I was really excited when he signed after seeing his form for Dundee.

KR said that he couldn't guarantee him first team football which should mean that we must be in for at least 2 strikers.

I wish someone would bid for Obika.
