I doubt Coventry are loaning him out for free out of the kindness in their hearts, guessing they want him to go to a certain level and be guaranteed some game time, no one at that level was willing to pay for that so we became the next best option. Not knocking the lad, he has only just turned 20, but I think people need to go easy on anyone we sign, we are very much not shopping at Harrods now, or even Sainsbury’s.

If a team like Coventry are happy to do this for us, with zero cost for us, then that has to be a good sign - if we have a reputation that we look after players well (Lanks being the prime example) and give them the chances then that is good for us.

Yeah, with Coventry being a PL side now, and with their new TV income streams, the amount they might get from a lower league club for loaning out one of their youngsters is negligible for them.

If they trust us to do a good job with Kai's development, it's more valuable to them than getting a fee from someone else who they don't.

But as you say, a good sign that we are indeed a trusted operator......

Would not surprise me if there's something in it for Coventry here, like a first option on someone or some kind of credit repayment if we ever do get our sh*t together. Either way, it's nice of them to do this.

I read that as saying that we could sign up to 5 loans, presumably depending on how many left. But equally he could have been talking complete bollox

Interesting that both Coventry and Andrews have both said it’s a season long loan but we are reporting that it is until 2nd January. Presumably we must have some sort of agreement to take it through to the end of the season with us picking up the wages from January.

This means there's a strong possibility that this isn't a free loan. I'd guess that if (for example) the going rate is 40% of wages, of which we're paying zero, that we've agreed to loan him again at 80% from January to the end of the season, to cover the shortfall.

Obviously could fall apart if we're not out of the embargo by then.

Indeed, and having to sell players and not being able to replace them at all is in turn better than not having a club to support, and not having a club to support is better than a woman cutting off your balls and throwing them out the window of a moving vehicle, but none of them are great.

It's called making the most of a bad situation. Have you ever tried to write a balanced post during your lifetime?

Say if he’s on 10k a week, what would we normally pay for a loanee % wise.
Sy we paid 25% towards that normally
2.5k a week x17 weeks =42.5 k

For a Premiership club that is chicken feed.

Even if he’s earning more and our percentage is higher
If he’s on 15k and we paid 33% that’s around 85k so again not a great hit for them

I think this a fantastic gesture from Coventry and hope other clubs will help us out in our hour of need

It’s a good point and I’ve not thought about the charity angle.
Maybe we can tap up arsenal, Chelsea and spurs to help us out for a few Months as they spunk out 100m on a single footballer.

I’m sure I read a few years back that Chelsea had as many as 40 players out on loan across Europe. This will be usually youngsters but nevertheless that is a huge amount of players.
And of course there will be some decent ones out there

I think this is something that needs to be clamped down on, if it hasn’t yet been done.
Mopping up all the talent by a few teams needs to be outlawed and would go some way to lowering astronomical football costs and ‘banking’ players.
