If this is the case, which is probably is, and with winnall looking like yesterday's man, then we do need a striker in January.
I like Whyte but hes not a centre forward (imo)

Nor am I but I shouldn't be playing!Cant be any worse than our two present back up strikers?
Tshimanga would probably cost at least £200k, maybe more. It's unlikely. If he stays he might be worth a promotion to Chesterfield.I said yesterday he’s well worth a punt.
He’s a good age, and in superb form! I think he could be a real success here. He would get lots of service, and he clearly has an eye for goal.
We need a striker, and he would be good back up to Taylor.
On the flip side there isn’t any guarantee, he could be an Omar Bogle. Great at that level but useless higher up.
Me personally I think he’s worth a go. Ship Agyei out on loan, and bring Tshimanga in.

Also he might be fat or unable to control the ball, which wouldn't necessarily be a problem in the Conference but would be in L1.And he would cost a considerable amount as Chesterfield are rumoured to have paid over £200k for him and with their stated aim of going for promotion back to the FL. I'd expect well over £500k, if not nearer £750k. I think Chesterfield, like many clubs are desperate to get out of the NL this season as rumours of a wage cap coming in next season which would influence the price as well.

Fanciful - he has a three year deal that he signed in August and is playing first team football and given his decent strike rate is probably having a cracking time.Tshimanga hears of our interest. Agent tells him let’s do this.
Player hands in transfer request, and then we get him cheaper, because Chesterfield won’t be able to keep an unhappy player, and afford to pay his wages, when he don’t want to be there.
Id prefer us to make enquiries asking WBA about Morton, currently on loan to Fleetwood
This is getting like the Henry Landers thread. A weird obsession with a player who simply isn't coming here.
1. If it was going to happen, it would have been when Tshimanga was playing for Oxford City. I believe KR was asked about him in a post-match interview and didn't give anything away. We weren't interested then and probably aren't now.
2. His current excellent form will have only increased his price and the number of clubs looking at him. The posters on this thread seem to think they have cottoned onto a hidden gem that no one else has noticed. He's top goalscorer in the NL! He's on the vidiprinter every gameweek. Even Championship clubs will be sitting up and taking notice. Former Yellow Matt Green got a move to Birmingham City on the back of a prolific couple of seasons with Mansfield at that level. Some on here talk like he's ours to poach.
3. We may be the sort of club to pay £200k for a player but our model would want to ensure that we could sell them on for more than that. Chesterfield will be looking to recieve double that as a minimum if they're going to sell him - and I bet they'll be valuing a place in the EFL more than the cash they would get for him. Tshimanga looks like more of a gamble than the likes of Brannagan, Dickie, Atkinson, Ledson and many of the others who have gone before. He's 24 so slightly older than the age we look for and hasn't come from a PL/Championship academy so won't be quite as polished as some of our previous signings. He could be the next Jamie Vardy or Dwight Gayle, he could be the next John Campbell or Jonte Smith. Who knows? Whatever, his profile doesn't fit the model we have here as easily as others.
We do need another striker(s) in January though. Agyei hasn't developed as hoped and Winnall doesn't make the pitch often enough. However, I don't believe Tshimanga fits the bill in terms of current valuation and likely return on that investment to replace either of those two.
But KR also said winnall was the best you can get at this level so I would question his judgment on strikers to be honestKR knows all about Tshimanga. Chances are he doesn't think he can step up.
True. But on the few occasions Winnall has been fit, he's looked very good. A better analogy would be Pat Hoban. League of Ireland is about L2/National League level. And he was/is a stand out player for Dundalk. 25+ goals a season, but found L1 far too quick. Possibly the same for Cooper. Last season's NI player of the season, but struggles to make the bench here. Players have generally found their level by their mid 20's. Anyone taking a punt on Tshimanga is probably looking at £500k, which is a lot for a L1 club, which is probably the level he would look to move to. Anyway. It's highly unlikely we will be signing him. Aygei isn't the back up solution to Taylor and I am sure KR knows that. But KR also said winnall was the best you can get at this level so I would question his judgment on strikers to be honest
