He’s predictably proving both fitter and more effective than the replacements we signed
Dembele has in no way looked as effective as Murphy in assists or goals. Not Dembele's fault that he coped one against Derby. And up until that point he looked as effective as Murphy has been in the Championship. Who's to say that another 4 or 5 games and we'd be seeing similar improvements?
I was a big fan of Josh Murphy. I don't think we would have been promoted without him last season and we'll always have that day at Wembley. But he chose to move on despite being offered the best deal in our history.
He's moved on, and it's best that we do too.
Probably because I posted this on the wrong thread, thought I was on the McGuane threadNot my memory of last season
Yeah, thought I was on the McGuane thread, got myself mixed upThat’s when he really gets going !
Ignore me, having a moment as mentioned in another replyNot at all.
I'm sorry @Scotchegg but @greatunclekip is right on this one, one has end product, the other up until now has looked tricky, but hasn't really set the world alight.Dembele has in no way looked as effective as Murphy in assists or goals.

I'd take Murphy over Dembele in a heartbeat.

I'm not writing him off, I'm just basing my opinion on what I've seen up until now/current form.To be fair to Dembele he hasn’t started his Oxford Career any worse than Murphy though has he? Maybe we need to give him a bit more time, if we had wrote Murphy off this quickly you would never be saying this.
Yes that’s true . Dembele looks quite tricky but he’s short with little legs so doesn’t have the pace of Murphy, which we’re really missing. To be fair to Dembele he hasn’t started his Oxford Career any worse than Murphy though has he? Whilst I would agree that there is every likelihood that we would be higher in the league if JM had remained at the club, I fail to see the risk we took when Murphy's agent persuaded him that more money was a better option than continuity. We would be higher in the league if we had Josh Murphy in our team. I’m convinced of that. It was a risk, it’s not paid off. It happens.
I don't recall Murphy getting too many assists to be honest, think people are trying to change history saying that. I would still have wanted to keep him but it was his goals that we're missing most.
In 2 years with us Murphy only got 6 goals so don’t that will be too much of a spread for Dembele to beat that.
