Commercial John Lewis pop up shop

It should start about 5 on Christmas Eve and end midnight on Boxing Day.
I agree, personally.

However as has already been mentioned, commercial realities mean the sleigh and decs went up in our shoppe two weeks ago 🙄

@Colin B is referring to our joining forces to attempt to convince the club to collaborate with Ann Summers, Victoria's Secret and Lovehoney.

Suffice to say it was destined to fall, but we tried our damnedest.
I bet they would have if Julian Alsop still played for us 👀

I wonder whether the club have ever looked to pop up in vacant units in some of the towns in the county e.g. Abingdon, Banbury, Bicester, Didcot and Witney. I appreciate I’ve missed plenty off, but whether a pop up shop or two in those places would be more viable and profitable than John Lewis.

I can’t remember the last time I bothered going into Oxford to buy anything. Ok, I don’t head to Abingdon to do my Christmas shopping, but I will invariably pop into town, buy a couple of bits from the shops I need to go to and then walk through town before heading home.

I’m sure JL gets great footfall, but it’s just that, footfall. I’m sure OUFC would get as much interest in a vacant unit in Abingdon when the lights get switched on as they would in John Lewis with a few tourists looking at a Jamie Oliver kitchen knife set.

We used to sale shirts in some of the sports shops in Abingdon, wantage and Witney.

Although you've all turned this into a jokey thread full of International Break stir crazy bollocks, my original point was a serious one.

A friend of mine set up an opportunity for the club to have a pop up store in John Lewis. The club had to be chased several times before doing anything about it, on one occasion replying very rudely saying stop pestering us we know what we are doing (decades of experience, anyone?). When the club's retail "experts" eventually got round to it they took all of the credit for finding and setting up the opportunity that they very nearly lost.

It's indicative of the way certain departments of the club operate.

I am (hopefully) due to be a grandad in January , I dislike Christmas on many levels, perhaps I will change seeing how she experiences in her life, I really want to get her some OUFC stuff to get her started off in the right way, but as the baby grow thing with the club crest was meet with a large degree of what’s that from my daughter I don’t hold out much hope in that direction to be honest

Ah, but you forget that you’re holding the perfect trump card:

If you want grandad to babysit for you, then baby MUST be an Oxford United fan, and all OUFC baby replica kits, baby grows, pyjamas, and bedsheets are mandatory.

... and threaten to take legal action when the baby pukes over you!
