The negativity doesn't deserve further comment.

Joe Bennett has been a class act on and off the pitch. He always seemed to have so much time and composure and I can't recall him ever being found out of position. He read the game so well that even when faced with blistering pace, he managed to still be one step ahead. He was no Greg Leigh, but his contributions in the final third shouldn't be underestimated and he put in a number of great balls from the left in the second half of last season in particular.

And off the pitch, he was a really nice guy. Always giving time to fans and happy to chat to everyone. The "no dickheads" approach to our recruitment has certainly paid off!

I hope that he stays fit enough to get a few more years under his belt. He could literally walk through league 1 and I'm sure that there will be plenty of clubs looking to take him on only a couple of years after his career looked finished.

And f*ck it, let's get a statue of him just to p**s off Dick!

You weren’t at WBA away then if you’ve never seen Bennett caught out of position.

By the way I like him and think he’s done a good job here. Good luck to him.

TBF that was his first game back from.injury and as he said he had no reserve games first.

Good video and he has closely been a teriffic player.
Very good for us and he came in and got up to speed quickly and helped in our promotion.
Any team looking for a left back in L1 should look at him.

That scar on his foot post-op 😬

Yes - that jumped out at me as well - solid full back for a season but not a legend imho.

Agreed. Legend status is used far too quickly these days. He's nowhere near legend status, unless the dictionary definition has changed without my knowledge?

No still the same. My opinion on Bennett remains unchanged! 😆

Again, it always staggers me that he was without a club when we picked him up. Genuine quality.
On x/twitter Wigan fans implied he was finished and terrible.

I do not trust the opinion of Wigan fans. Absolute rolls Royce of a footballer. Obvious how he played at the top level.

It doesn't appear that he has a club.
I am pretty surprised based on how good he was with us.
Trialled at Charlton in the summer and wasn't offered anything.

36 in March and it took him 6 months to join us after being released by Wigan so didn't have many offers even before joining us. Another 18months on, I'm not overly surprised.

OK for us and did a solid, unspectacular job. Hopelessly exposed in the Championship though and an error strewn performance at WBA was the end.
WHAAAAAAAAAAAT

I don't think that was the case at ALL. He was a very solid player for us last season. As you said. He was not hopelessly exposed by any means IMHO
