Wearing a very fetching hooded anorak too.No idea. He laid a wreath at the Cenotaph today though.
In the honourable tradition of Michael Foot's duffle coat.
Where was Jeremy Corbyn on Friday evening? I never spotted him at the Royal Albert Hall as hard as I looked, was it to much trouble for him to turn up or are my eyes failing me. They were good enough to pick out Emily Thornberry.
Wearing a very fetching hooded anorak too.
Who's slated him?So Corbyn turns up to the the Cenotaph in a coat with a hood and gets slated.
May's austerity policies have resulted in the deaths of hundreds, if not thousands, or vulnerable people. But hey, she's got a lovely coat!

I'm not her biggest fan but that's a bit of an over reaction isn't it?
You know which.Which is the over reaction? The nice coat or the thousands killed by austerity?
Perfect example of how a totally unnecessary thread takes on a life of its own and spirals out of control!
The OP seems to be making the political point that Corbyn wasn't at some pre-Remembrance Sunday event at the Albert Hall. Apologies @Anthomic if I've misinterpreted this, but it was fairly irrelevant anyway as Corbyn was at the more meaningful event on Sunday.
There was some light-hearted comment about Corbyn's attire from @ljs and Michael Foot's duffel coat from a previous era from myself.
Then more irrelevancy from @My Manor about Foot and spying for Russia. When I queried the relevancy of this the poster flounced off in a huff.
There was then uncertainty over whether Corbyn's attire had actually been slated or not, and reference from @SiHath about Tory austerity measures affecting the health of the nation and that being a rather more important issue.
If only the club would reveal a bit more about what's going on with Thohir, HMRC, Nile Ranger etc etc ....
I did think the coat looked a bit scruffy and not in keeping of the occasion. Have refrained from saying so in case anyone got offended.
To be fair, Angus Robertson took the time to wear a kilt, so a little effort for anyone isn't that hard.
Foot did spy at some level for Russia it seems, there was a furore about it a month or two. Damned Murdoch media right?
I think this quote sums it up. Another case of confirmation bias!Really? Claims published in the Times in the 70's(?) that Foot sued them for libel and won.

I should have put Murdoch Media in "" to be clear that there is a taint there. So, if the contents of the KGB archives was reported accurately by Gordievsky, and assuming Lyubimov and Kubeykin were being honest, what does this tell us? Essentially, that Gordievsky believed his predecessors in London and that MI6, in turn, believed Gordievsky. But the truth is that, until archival evidence becomes available, it is very difficult to draw any firm conclusions. We also don’t really know what MI6 made of this – we only know what some anonymous individuals have informed a journalist.
Which is the over reaction? The nice coat or the thousands killed by austerity?
Are you not concerned that he took Russian money? Or that MI6 were concerned about him to potentially tell the Queen? Does taking money make you a spy, useful idiot, a patsy, whatever nomenclature you want to use?None of the above. Foot was a British patriot and democratic socialist. Repeating disproved slurs and, when you are corrected, repeating them as insinuations should be beneath you.
Hate to be a pedant but every year 1187 people per 100,000 of population just die. We don`t live forever.

Would a British Patriot just say no?

Yep. I think it's not so much that people die, but how and when they die. Many different ways of looking at this, but as an example lack of investment in the ambulance service = longer waits for transport to hospital and subsequent treatment = less chance of recovery.
Where I live a donkey could stand for the Tories and be elected - in fact, she did - yet locals constantly moan about street lights going off early, verges not being cut, litter bins not being emptied. When you try to tie in these in to lack of central government funding (austerity) you get blank looks of denial. I've been called an idiot for simply suggesting austerity is actually a thing, let alone linking it to poorer services.
People round here get exactly what they vote for. (Like Brexit for instance. Farmers were at the forefront of the 'out' campaign round here, and are only just realising they don't have enough east Europeans to pick their crops. These people are still entitled to come here, but many have gone home as they feel unwelcome, and who can blame them.)
