Prelec is out with an injury (hernia I think). Requires surgery and will be out for around a month assuming I've remembered correctly what Craig Short said.

Prelec’s injury and absence has gone under the radar a bit, especially with the sudden realisation that we need to invest in the midfield and the signings in that area taking priority.

I suspect Prelec has been carrying an injury for a while, and now it needs attention. So we are now left with Lankshear who has done well but is still quite young and can’t be expected to start and play every minute up front on his own, Harris who is short of confidence and struggling , and Bradshaw whose best days are some way behind him.

If Lankshear gets injured we are really short up top.

Could be, in the January window anything can happen. Curtis Nelson has left they may want to recruit
A case of we’re after a defender in that position and we have Long as cover. If we get our man Helik goes.
This could be said of any of our players. If we get the lad from Mansfield and Woo maybe a midfielder and winger will go
The only area we are now desperately short is up front with Prelec out

Wouldn’t be against this at all, he’s looked ponderous at times and his goal threat has deserted him. If we can get a bit of cash for him and invest in someone with a bit more ability with the ball at his feet then I’d be happy with that.

Stick a decent defensive midfielder in front of our back four and he’ll be back to his best PDQ.

Been linked with about 36 midfielders in the last couple of day, going to go out on a limb and predict we won’t sign them all.

Depends if we were to decide to play BDK further forward for example then CB,Konak,French bloke & McDonnell doesn’t look too overloaded in there then.

As long as we get a decent fee for him, he is going to a championship rival if he goes off course

I guess with Yu Hirakawa at Bristol City on Tigers list the club sees it the same.

Would love to see all of O'Donkor, Bradshaw, and Harris leave if we can gaurentee a decent replacement.

I'd be concerned selling Helik and bringing in a loan player, which is what the McNair rumour was, leaving Brown as the only specialist CB we own.

Besides, Helik got an assist last week, his goal threat is back! (Keep the delusional belief, brother!)

I think our defence is fairly settled, so if anyone goes then we'd need a like-for-life replacement in.

That's not to say that we can't do better. We need to eventually replace Leigh, ter Avest, Ingram and find a permanent CB to replace Davies. But I think that is work best left for the summer with resources needed elsewhere.

If we can get good money for Helik and use that to bring in a replacement and also use the money to strengthen elsewhere then great. But I wouldn't be looking to make changes for changes sake.

Very true but with Prelec, Donley and Tyler all absent for a few weeks at least we will be naming a squad of 22 + 3 already injured so we might not have the choice.
