Beginning of the end feels like a possibility, though the dismissive attitude toward him is still quite weird.

This is the same man that had regular meetings with Joey Beauchamp's family amongst other positives.
I'm not dismissive of him at all. He sounds like a great bloke. But as a Championship-level footballer, he's almost certainly finished.

Well his legs have gone and we’ve all seen it this season, he can hardly pass the ball 5 yards & doesn’t have the legs to get around the pitch, time catches up with you, I think we will be a pressing team under Bloomfield, I don’t think he’s got the legs and energy for that role and I think with the signings we are making maybe the club accept it too.

I think the bloke is great for what he does for mental health & he’s one of the nicest blokes you can meet, maybe how I worded it wasn’t the best but I don’t see how he has a role in our side going forward.
I know he is interested in coaching. Would love him to stick around with us while he gets his badges.

Am I allowed to get a bit annoyed? Some great signings already but I don't understand why these couldn't have been done in the latter half of the summer window. I know, I know. I'm criticising the recruitment team for getting good players in - they cant win. I wish we could have done it sooner though. Anyway, plenty to look forward to for this Saturday.

I genuinely have such a positive feeling about Bloomfield (mild cheddar and everything).

Loving the signings and the rumours today, its clear Erick isn't willing to go down without a fight which is fantastic to see.

I have a new found sense of optimism, role on Saturday, if we can get the atmosphere going on Saturday we can upset Bristol City and show the doubters we're still scrapping.

I am well up for Saturday

Did you read the quote from Ed saying they tried to get him in the summer but Brentford wouldn't do the deal

If were to sign the other two players linked with us, it would be an exciting end to the season I reckon. We definitely need to offload a few.

Maybe because these players weren't available? Donley was at Stoke, Jeon didn't want to leave halfway through a K-League season, and Brentford wanted to keep MPH and Konak in house (even Waldron says we tried to bring Konak in the summer).

Meanwhile, in the summer Gary wanted to bring in Allan Campbell, and given the way that Waldron's brought in a CM and is looking like adding another soon, it shows just how much he must have rated Campbell as a player. He was probably thinking we already have enough League One-quality players we're struggling to shift, we don't need to be lumbered with another one

Okay, okay. That's fair enough. I'm prepared to admit when I am being an ar*e. The quality seems so high though which is the point I'm trying (badly) to make.

Though I can understand your point in why we didn't sign another CM when it looked like we needed one in the summer, but seemingly the only option available in Campbell wasn't seen as worth it when we had Sibley in the squad. I think the budget reshuffling did mean we brought in too many loans in other areas, which limited our flexibility to bring in a CM on loan later in the window, so we were rifling through the bins of free transfers left, and none of them seemed like an upgrade on what we currently had.

What that did mean though is that it gave us money to spend this window, where we have a clearer idea of where we needed to strengthen to stay up. I would always take that over spending all our budget in summer then having no money left when there are gaps in the squad come January

Yeah. That’s a better way of looking at it.

Think it's quite premature to say Vaulks' legs have gone at this stage - Bran, BDK, and Vaulks have all looked completely at sea at moments in front of one of the slowest Oxford defensive lines in years this season.

Very pleased with today's signing and the prospect of McDonell too, but I think a quick CB would have the biggest impact in making us a better team.

Might just be the excitement of rumours and credible links to good players, but today feels quite momentous with the club really rolling up its sleeves for this dogfight - bring it on!

We're certainly not going to die wondering it seems! Great to see, now for us in the stands to play our part!

I've been more supportive than most of Waldron, and the recruitment in general, but I did put it as mark against him when we didn't get another midfielder in the summer after Campbell was hanging around. Admittedly I didn't want Campbell either but it does seem our sights were set a lot higher than a guy who's ended up at St Mirren, a standard miles below us.

Also backs up that the managers shouldn't have too much say in recruitment, they won't see enough games and will naturally err towards players they know. I was worried last January when we were linked with Longman and signed Bradshaw as they seemed very much Rowett players and I had a horrible feeling we were going to end up with a load of later 20's/early 30's players with loads of experience but a really low ceiling. A director of football and recruitment team will generally stick around a lot longer than a manager so it makes far more sense for them to have the most control over which players we sign.

Consideration should be given to the boss but if you're consistent in the type of manager you appoint then you'll see smoother transitions, it's been done to death but look at Brighton and Brentford. Both have a crystal clear direction and have lost managers who look to have done an excellent job (Frank, de Zerbi, Potter) and yet barely missed a step replacing them.

Placheta? Wing back?

We tried it once last season at Norwich, He gave up a goal within the first five minutes through horrible positioning/tracking.

Anyone who would come out and suggest that Shemmy is a better Wingback than HTA must be on a windup!!

Unless Rowett was forcing Ed’s hand, Waldron is quoted as saying that we’d been tracking Bradshaw for some time. I’m sure Rowett helped it over the line but I’m not sure the signing can be laid at his feet.
