Would be a real statement. Don’t think the fee would be that small either, and he’s from Tigers list. 6 foot tall. Surely not everyone will be happy on here!?

Personally, I wouldn’t be unhappy if he were to sign. But, I’m not sure he’d be a signing that screams “Operation Championship Survival”.

Unlike Donley & MPH, he’s never played at the level, and he’s only had 19 games in the league below.

He looks a very good prospect and he could become an asset, but I’m not entirely convinced he’s the answer right now.

If he signs I hope he is a huge success, immediately.

Detailed write up on McDonnell here. Looks like we would be a good fit for his next move up the leagues. Mansfield fans seem to rate him too which is a good sign 👀

McDonnell is in the door.

McDonnell on a permanent wouldn't impact on squad limits this season and another one for the future. But also looks like he could come in and do a job this season if called upon. Fit and ready to be in the matchday squad from the off.

Seems a sensible move to me.
Yes he would. He will be 22 on the 4th of Feb

We have a deal for Matos on the table, ready, and he could sign today. However, looks as though it would be the end of the window as he is waiting to see what other offers come in for him. The recruitment team really want him, but at what stage do we move on?
Hopefully we’ve learnt with the whole Markus Brown situation!

They’ll be players as good or better than Matos, so you give him a deadline, if he doesn’t sign by that date (and I’m talking 24-72hrs at max), we move on.

Our priority is getting roles filled and not to be left with holes, and the quicker the better.

Couple of interesting snippets on the Mansfield forum, mentioned PNE have also made a bid and that Forest may have a recall clause that expires tomorrow. Maybe why we are hearing things now?

Also mentioned they nearly signed GoD on loan in the summer but he then got injured (hand injury).

Thought you had to be under 21 on the 1st January of the year the season starts. You remain outside of squad numbers for the whole season.
Wow, would be a better signing than I thought, I thought it was a year further ahead

McDonnell’s agent, Stephen Whelan, has followed OUFC’s Instagram account.

Edit:

He’s also Brodie Spencer’s agent, so that’s probably more likely the reason.

Depends if its Jamie Hanson’s measuring tape…..he was 6ft3 by all accounts.

I’m still pissed off about Baptiste and Fosu leaving for Brentford in January 2020. Peart-Harris and Konak coming the other way would finally even things up.😁

A move Fosu was not ready for. Sometimes one more season developing helps.
