The excellent article shared by @YellowinBirmingham highlights why this exact scenario can be so difficult.

The kind of posts you, @Bicester Yellow and one or two others take such delight in making at this time of year seem to be designed for the sole purpose of trying to get as many people as possible to get their pitch forks and light their torches.

You ignore the myriad moving parts behind any transfer, pretend it's all easy, and then feign disbelief and claim mismanagement when it's quiet for a few days.

That's lazy.
f**k me I hope you’ve got some tissues as sounds like a simple opinion has upset you.

Great career move join the 25th best league in the world and not stay in the 6th
I really don't know why people are so hung up on Matos.
He'd be a useful signing, sure, given what we currently have, but he's really not THAT good, he's one of those players who will probably never have a best position, and I'd like to think we're targeting better...

Bit simplistic - AIK get average crowds of 30k and they’re playing in Europe this season. It certainly wouldn’t be a bad career move.
Disagree it's the standard of football he won't grow as a footballer there but could in this country. Hell either turn into a journeyman or end up in L1 or 2

The standard of football is variable but decent, especially at the top end (top end Swedish teams are probably equivalent to lower Premier League or top end of Champ). And he'll be playing every week I'd imagine, if he went there.

Brentford are one of a few premier league teams who have a track record for picking up younger players for relatively cheap who develop into first team players pretty quickly. They paid €4.5 for him not long ago that might not be much to them but they obviously see something in him and their track record suggests they don’t get much wrong. It may be a first loan but I like the sound of this one.

Also it could be nonsense, that’s not to discredit the person who first mentioned it. There are a lot worse clubs to have a good relationship with then then Brentford though.

He's definitely one of those who seems to have got better with every game he hasn't played this season!

Surely not 2 midfielders!
This would be a proper signing, proven to be a top L1 player already and I don’t think would count towards our squad cap for this season.

Would also mark a clear statement about moving back to our previously very successful model of signing younger up and coming players.

Would be a real statement. Don’t think the fee would be that small either, and he’s from Tigers list. 6 foot tall. Surely not everyone will be happy on here!?

Is the aim to acquire the entire Northern Ireland national team?! We could have Brown, Spencer, Donley, McNair, and Mcdonnell by the end of the window!

All part of the plan.

If we don’t get the Triangle sorted in time, it means we can ground-share at Windsor Park.
