I thought there was consensus that we had a pretty imbalanced squad. Is it strange that we're still going for more central attacking players when we need two CDMs and an old school left winger (more Josh Murphy rather than Dennis Skinner but I wouldn't mind seeing what the latter could do with a ball and a yard of grass)?

You start to realise why Rowett was frustrated with the amount of forward players we sign. Donley is one of 6 (Romeny, Goodrham, LHarris, Krastev, Phillips) number 10s. Meanwhile we have 2 fit midfielders, one of whom is 32 and the other (BDK) looks in need of a rest.

All very promising for a club with no money and a board determined to see us relegated!

But in all seriousness, a permanent deal and the option to buy Jamie Donley will be huge steps in the right direction at bringing in young players as future assets. It will also be a complete 180º from the way of playing under Rowett and presumably reflects the playing style of a future manager.

I think 2 of those will go out.

Your positivity is a consistent breath of fresh air, Mr Egg.

Larris can go back to Fulham now. Phillips, as good as he was looking before his (latest) injury may as well have the remainder of his contract paid off and removed from the wage bill. We're not going to get a ROI on Romeny, so he may as well stick around.

I’d say it’s very dangerous to presume anything with our SMT. It’s certainly isn’t the case that they recruited for Rowett’s style in the summer.

Minor point, we've seen no evidence that Romeny is a 'number 10'. Isn't he a striker?

I wonder if for M -PH we would be looking at a loan until the end of the season, paying x% of his salary. With a permanent transfer in the summer?

We've also seen no evidence that Romeny is anywhere near Championship standard. I think he'd struggle in L1. Nice technique, but zero pace and constantly knocked off the ball. A vanity purchase, I'm afraid.

I think there is a player in there somewhere. Looked great in his first game and then since the injury pre season has struggled. Needs more time even though he appears to have had long enough already. Hope he doesn’t prove to be another Will Goodwin

I agree with you and @JOHN BOY . I would like to see Romeny go on loan somewhere too. I don't know how he or Eric would feel about it but a lower League One side would be helpful. With a run in a side it would be good to see what he can actually do as I genuinely have no idea. But we need to give BdK a rest. Poor lad must be breathing out of his backside.

Meanwhile, Swindon sign 3 players in this window despite being 2nd in the league!!

Jesus, I remember when we were in league 2 we struggled to get deals done as we were supposedly further down the food chain and that’s when we weren’t in the play off places!!

We’ve talked some shite over the years!!

Looking at his picture on the BBC, it looks like they've signed a new mascot to walk the teams out with Aidan Borland from Villa.

But what happens if the money man gets bored? £50m in debt, £180m needed to build the stadium, massive unbalanced squad, incompetent SLT and no revenue apart from ticket sales. Yeah, everything’s rosey!

Talk about glass half empty.
The money men seem to believe that thr club is worth more with the planning permission.
The SLT is the fault of the money men/ owners who can change things if they agree with you.
The academy seems to be getting better ( doing well in FA Youth cup and good players coming through)
The unbalanced squad ( massive is a huge overstement), can be fixed in the summer ( can be started in January)
Not everything is rosy for sure, but most OUFC supporters would think that many things are as good as they have been for a long time

We're fucked!

Always have been. No one has ever hidden the fact that we're dependant on outside investment to fund this club. However, if that results in a new stadium and sustainable Championship status then we at least become an attractive prospect for a different billionaire to have a go.
